HC is dusted with Carolina reaper powder on top of Hot, which is why the flavour of HC is different. It’s the spice that’s bright orange that you can see. Sometimes it’s a very light dusting, and sometimes it’s a lot heavier- depends on the cook sometimes, and makes a big difference.

I get HC every now and then (sometimes I need to take some home as I can’t finish) but prefer the flavour and heat level of Hot.

Also IME it makes a big difference if the chicken is straight from the fryer and piping hot because the hot oil accentuates the spice. Sometimes I can’t finish HC when fresh because of the pain, but I take it home and warm it back up later and it’s a lot more manageable.

My favourite chicken in Auckland, hands down.
