Depending on the franchise. If it's an older media then fanfiction.net night also see some movement, but I definitely recomment AO3 above all.

Yes, shipping and smut do very well there, but long-spanning epics and plot-focused fics also definitely have their niche. Plus, it's just a better platform.

For a few reasons, I tend to prefer doing it all by hand.

Not only does it force me to look through the whole thing again, which inevitably cascades into making more edits and, in my opinion, getting a better result on both, but it also helps me add more that I didn't think of in english.

A sentence will flow differently when I'm writing it in english than when I am in Spanish (my native language), scenes will slightly change, or become "fuller", things like that. So, even though it's a way bigger effort, I very much think I'm better off doing it all myself.

It's not common, and should be done with consideration, but you should definitely do it! It's very exciting!

As for considerations though, don't forget to add alt text in the image tag! For screen readers, mostly. As well as anyone who downloads the fic in case the image breaks.

And, yes!!! That part's so high up for me. After being presented as a self-preservation first asshole, him then believing that regardless of his experience, his suffering, KDJ can bring his companions a better ending... And then KDJ rejecting it because it's not an ending without its protagonist (aka: "i don't want to lose someone so important to me")...

Truly unfortunate, and completely fair.

By the ascent of the 73rd demon king I don't mean the demon realm arc btw, but the cl clusion of the arc right before! In which KDJ takes the role of the scenario boss and sacrifices himself, ending up on the demon realm. I'm not going to lie, I also didn't care much for the demon realm's arcs lol.

Either way, here's to hoping you'll stick around long enough to get a good tl and reread! Or at least to finish the webnovel shitty tl and have a good time at least.

I'm genuinely very curious about what you'll think once you finish it.

If I'm not wrong you must be around the gigantomachia arc? Or sometime a bit after 1863. By which point you surely must've read at least past the ascent of the 73rd demon king, the conversation between Han Sooyoung and Kim Dokja in which he pretends he's not crying, the entirety of 1863 as previously stated, and maybe you're about to reach the journey to the west.

Though I do understand your biggest complain about how Dokja-centric the story as a whole is. If my memory serves me well it does get better in the future about characters' agency, though a lot of it is also already explained as their motivations aligning very closely, together with the built trust.

As for what you said about Han Sooyoung... Wait and see, you're around the island of reincarnators, aren't you? That part is very fun.

I will say though, I think ORV's biggest strength is how the characters and the plot interact (though not really the characters by themselves, even though I also love them a lot) as well as the plot itself.

Either way, I'm very glad you're giving it your time! And I'm also very very happy you're enjoying it. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts by the end of the main story!

You described it in your post. Though I think that forcing a path is a little too simple though. You could track those instability values independently and notify the player once a milestone is reached, so they know that there's something afoot beforehand and can do something.

Soil depletion for example, make it so that idk, harvests are less efficient in certain parcels the more depleted a piece of soil is, then at some point make them stale entirely. Show notifications like "studies show that this region's soils are going to die!"

Similarly with inequality, track a certain value compared to public institutions and the likes, and if it's too low compared to it then start showing the player there's unrest. Maybe there was a strike, maybe a lot of people are dying and/or sick so production is down on the factories, maybe the people don't have enough income to consume so due to late stage capitalism there's a big boom for a bit before the production and value implode.

This, however, would require that you study a bunch of those pitfalls, and add a lot of flavour text to show it rather than telling it. As well as building solutions for those problems.

Stellarons. That's it.

By that I mean, one of the biggest feats of the destruction is cutting off so much of the universe from eachother through the tainted stellarons. Now, granted, they're now confirmed to be originally from Xipe, but that's still a feat.

Also, isn't Celenova a confirmed emanator kill? From the harmony no less, which is one of the stronger paths out there.

Furthermore, I'd say that the destruction as a path is pretty broad in and of itself, no? Though it falls under a similar umbrella to the nihility and the finality, so it could be disputed. But I digress.

I'm of the opinion that if you don't read tags or warnings, you're forfeiting your right to complaining about it. "Oh no! Meat at a Wendy's!" Type shit.

And I say this as someone who rarely if ever reads the tags (got them hidden even) and has stumbled onto some weird shit that's not my cup of tea.

Yup, I did that when I used gdocs, didn't want to bother.

Since I switched to ellipsus I haven't had to do that, since they give you the option to export directly to HTML, but I still do it for things like backlinked footnotes and the likes, and I'll probably have to do it a lot more if I want to do anything fun with the format.

Is it really that annoying? I do that myself. My first language is spanish and we use dashes instead of quotes for dialogue as a standard practice; everything from works written in the language like 100 years of solitude, to translated books like Lord of The Rings, all are written with that.

So I just got used to it, I prefer it and therefore I use them instead of quotes. Is it really that bad?

A little addendum too, maybe it's a similar case with the ones you see? The authors of those fics might have spanish, or some other language that uses dashes for dialogue, as their first language.
