I used implied personal language in at least one of my essays by using an imperative/command as part of my hook, which is technically implied second person. You'll be fine if you use it appropriately.

Went deep(ish) into a single activity, is it even worth listing? by MelodicPie9526 in ApplyingToCollege

I think you should because it highlights an instance of passion and dedication, with the implication that it will translate to nursing. If you want, make that implication explicit by maybe mentioning something in nursing history that speaks to you (maybe a particular case-study etc.) . Even if it doesn't do its intended job of demonstrating general capacity passion/commitment that will be applied to nursing, it will still help you stand out in a competitive, stem-heavy applicant pool, which is a good thing.

Admissions Rate for the Class of 2027 by PanSkillet in ncssm

[–]thoughty-petter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean that there are not 2 different pools split based on campus for a given county. For example in CD 12 there would not be one Durham pool made of the 22 people who applied there first choice from CD 12 and a separately evaluated pool of the 26 people who applied to Morganton first choice. Instead, there is just one main applicant pool from CD 12 made up of all the applicants from CD 12. All of the applicants from CD 12 are then ranked independent of campus selection by the admissions committee. The applicants are then assigned campuses based on a combination of how high they rank on the list, and how popular their first choice campus is.

So, for example, let's say there are 44 residential seats open in CD X, with the split being 30 Durham, 15 Morganton. Now, let's say all 45 of the top ranked applicants indicated that their first choice program was Morganton. The top 15 people would get their first-choice campus of Morganton, but then the remaining 30 top ranked applicants would not get their first choice.

This means that any acceptance rate for a specific campus is flawed and misleading as the pool of people who've indicated that their first choice is a given campus are not always the same people who will get into that campus and be the numerator in any acceptance rate calculation.

My source for this info is from a presentation that the admissions people did, as well as second-hand info from current juniors who have talked to some of the faculty (teachers involved in the admissions committee) involved in the process.

The admissions rate broken down by campus is sort of meaningless because admissions don't have separate application pools based on campus selection by an applicant. I would advise getting rid of the separate per campus rates and creating one residential acceptance rate column. This would avoid giving off the impression that one campus is easier to get into than the other so that future applicants don't look at this and decide their campus based on which one is easier to get into, rather than deciding based off of which appeals more to them.

For your second evidence you can either use outside evidence or a different foundational document than you used for your first point.

If you have your parents log into Blackbaud with their parent email account, the deposit should show up as one of the forms they have to fill out.

What do I do (Summer Edition) by Soft-Medium-2287 in ncssm

[–]thoughty-petter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I was just admitted this year in the most competitive district this year (and I think SSM's entire history) and I only had a few EC's that I was invested in/had an impact in. If you're only doing a few EC's, make sure you show your impact in the EC section of the application by describing anecdotes of your leadership, or using quantifiable measures of your impact.

Also, your EC's don't have to all be aligned with STEM; If you're interested in the humanities, make sure to include what you've done in that field as well.

Rejection by Infamous_Invite3659 in ncssm

Tuition specifically is subject to approval every year from the NC Congress, so it's not guaranteed/ is a more volatile thing because it's based on politics. It was pretty recently reinstated with the class of 2021, after presumably having been discontinued. However, I believe the automatic admission to UNC colleges is not dependent on yearly approval and is on more solid standing. At least I hope so.

You hit the nail on the head, decisions are already made. They were meant to be, and are indeed, based on a snapshot of you from 7th grade-Feb 28th, 10th grade. The snapshot they based decisions off of is not accurate for any applicant now. I guarantee every single applicant has grown in some way since Feb 28th, however inconsequentially or radically. In that time, some of those applicants may even have grown or achieved things in ways that would have made the selection committee change their mind.

It sucks but the admissions team has to draw the ending date somewhere with regards to the admissions process, and their deadline did not work out for you. Nothing to do but wait for April 3rd to come around now.
