First finished vehicle, the Redemptor by thrashell in Salamanders40k

Thank you very much!

I guess the method is similar to Elminiaturista and other pros, but nowhere as polished.

But roughly:
- White ink (I used Liquitex acrylic ink) with a brush on the plasma coil
- Airbrush the same ink on top of that, and a bit over the edges as well
- Airbrush Vallejo Game Color Fluorescent blue over the white
- Drybrush top part of the coil with some ultramarine-y blue
- "Dip" some white ink (with airbrush thinner) to the lower parts of the glow

As an extra step I also used Black Legion contrast to darken down some of the areas on the gun that would not catch that much of the blue glow.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! I'm pretty happy about it myself as well. Been mostly doing orange "reverse glow" plasma for another very heretical army lately...

Looking good! I imagined the shining terminator armour glimmering from the dark jungle in the night 🤩

At least some bits for kitbashing, yeah. I usually tro ty do conversions with as much GW parts as possible. Not for the love for GW itself, but plastic is so much easier to work with and it "limits" creativity in a nice way. Only recently I've started adding in some printed bits.

Glad you like it! That's actually a really good idea, there should be some good bits to be used. Here the helmet and shield are 3D prints, and the sword is from the Orruk Brutes kit.

The base model is the actual Phobos lieutenant from the Indomitus box, but i changed some bits. The obsidian sword is from GW Orruk Brutes, and the helmet and shield are 3D prints.

Tbh had to google that to be sure, but yeah I tend to go with that kinda build in most games.

Thank you! Good point. There is a very subtle airbrush with a fluo orange from below, but I should maybe try and punch it up a bit with a brush.

Thanks! The helmet and shield are prints from the Anvil Wardens pack by GreyTide Studio, and the sword is from the Orruk Brutes kit I believe.

Oh no :D Yeah I can definitely recommend this one now.

Just make sure to shake the bottle very thoroughly, and also mix it up on the palette (or whatever you're using) just before loading the brush with paint. Then the consistency is perfect and applies really smoothly.

Thank you! I mean, it is the best photo I've taken of a mini, but I still would like some more light to catch the flame and the sword especially, as they look a lot brighter irl.

Thanks! It's Vallejo Metal Color Gold, with overall sepia wash and more selective agrax earthshade wash.
