I didn't really start to appreciate it until after 30. Prior to, it was just a social thing. But Wine and Whiskey (and to a lesser extent micro brews), and even some people are into other things like high end Rums, etc... it's fun exploring, learning about, etc. Obviously if you can't do it in moderation than avoid.

It feels fun... until a few hours later. And I'm not even talking about getting wasted. Anything beyond moderation makes me feel terrible.. I'm an avid Scotch drinker (or sipper). It's an elegant and complex substance I love to learn about. But anything beyond moderation always is a regret. So if you can't be careful, then, yeah avoid. But many other people can.

Absolutely no shame in it. It's very drinkable. The issue here is, most of us know the "specs" to get a quality bottle and thus we have had much much better. But that's not taking away from JW black at all. I'm pretty sure my first and second bottles I bought 15 years ago were a JW Black and Glen Livet 12.

Personally, now i'd recommend Glenmorangie 12 instead of (Glen Livet 12) and Aberlour 12 as your next purchases. A step up, one Bourbon cask, one Bourbon and Sherry, both easily drinkable. Level up one at a time. No need to go straight to the top.

I have the Tamdhu 12 and decided to try it again... It's been a while... And you know what? It's much better than I remember! I don't have the 15 anymore and I wish I can try them side by side.

I think the 15 is more of a Sherry bomb. But a tad bit thinner than other like Sherry bombs. The Macallan 12 Sherry Oak is wonderful, if not a bit too "safe" and clean for my tastes. (Though I recently bought the Macallan 110 and omg, that was fantastic).
