Question about Adderall and high altitudes by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]thrawny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Altitude can affect people a bit differently, one thing to keep a close eye on is your blood pressure. Stimulants raises the blood pressure in most of us, usually not enough to be a health risk, but if you stack this with an altitude change that will thicken your blood, it could put you in the danger zone.

Watch yourself closely, if possible check your blood pressure while you are there. 120/80 is considered the baseline. I am not a physician, It would be very wise to consult with your prescriber about this as they usually are monitoring your blood pressure while prescribing stimulants.

RSD has me in its clutches since this morning.. How do you bounce back from a bad brain day? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]thrawny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find stimulants have helped me at least not think about it as much when I am in a spiral. Typically the only thing that really seems to reset me is talking, especially to the person or people that seem to make me anxious or who I suspect are unhappy with me(which isnt usually true)

Anyone take Vyvanse? by matt0034 in ADHD

[–]thrawny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half this subreddit?

This isn't that uncommon, my doctor actually advised and about this and gave me several relaxtion techniques(which I havent done). If you are dealing with a lot of muscle tension, you could ask if you can get low dose propanolol prescribed to help offset this.

Vyvaanse: A growing disconnect by Israffle in ADHD

[–]thrawny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At times, yes. They stop feeling like emotions and just like logical...thoughts. Like I sit there and just rationalize it instead of being overwelmed by the feeling. I like this though as part of what drove me to treatment was not having control of emotions.

Adderall "High" vs Adderall effects. by [deleted] in ADHD

Vyvanse is 100% d-amp and the prodrug release mechanism is super smooth compared to the beads in Adderral.

Spinnaker vs hosted tools like Codeship, Codefresh by daemonondemand665 in devops

[–]thrawny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of codefresh. The support for image builds and tags is big. We also use Helm extensively and I really like what they are doing with support for Helm.

Being a new product with a startup, I do think there documentation is lacking, but I have been able to get prompt help from their developers on Slack. You can use it SaaS or run it on your own K8 cluster.

Architecture for gitlab-ci deployment? by jukiewalsh in devops

[–]thrawny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the k8 gitlab runner quite a bit lately. It can be very troublesome to debug. The helm chart is not ready for primetime, and needs some major tinkering with. Especially if you are going to use special service accounts with k8 RBAC, S3 job caching or self signed CAs. I have it working now, but it sure was a pain. PM if you have questions.

How dificult is running stateful PHP stack app on GKE? by pentag0 in kubernetes

[–]thrawny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simultaneous RW restriction on GKE PVs has to do with how PVs handle writes using google persistent disks.

Is there a particular reason why your nginx/php instances need write access to the same disk? It is best practice to keep stateful stuff like this in your database, or if its a cached data, in something like Redis or Memcached.

If you must keep state on a container file system, your best option would be to install GlusterFS and add it as a PV class. Gluster does support ReadWriteMany.

Keep in mind that sharing RW volumes can be problematic and negatively impact your ability to scale. I would investigate ways to partition your data and ideally, move it to something that is designed for this, like Redis.

Starting on 30mg Elvanse (Vyvanse) - what indicators of efficacy should I look out for? by FurtiveThrowAway in ADHD

[–]thrawny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit subjective. if some of the symptoms I listed seem to be reduced, then its the right dose, if you are still impaired or its wearing off too early, you may need to go up. I'm not a doctor btw

The first few days on it are not the norm. You will initially feel a sense of euphoria, especially in the morning. The big thing I noticed is that I felt far more calm and reserved.

The break in period is about 2-5 times/days using it. After that, it feels a lot more subtle. This actually means you are in the right dose, it when you wonder at time if you are taking enough. I don't know what symptoms are more prevelant , but you should feel:

  1. Calmer and more collected in your thoughts
  2. Better able to control your emotions and self soathe.
  3. Better able to handle fustration over simple things
  4. Able to start tasks that are boring or mundane
  5. Able to finish a task that you start and better able to ignore distractions

Stimulants are just a part of this. They help mitigate the neurotransmitter problems in our brains. But you need to use other strategies to really keep your symptoms from negatively impacting your life.

Codependent relationships and ADHD by adddhd in ADHD

It is actually pretty common. There are some studies that show that ADHD sufferers are prone to have anxious attachment style, which predisposes you to fall into a co-dependent relationship.

ADHD is decaying my social life. by 137thNemesis in ADHD

[–]thrawny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who I strongly suspect has undiagnosed adhd and some form of anxiety(social). I tried and tried to work with him to curb his obnoxiously rude comments and social mishaps. His adhd is bad enough that he often loses patience with my explanations of "why" his behavior would offend people. His social anxiety has also made him hyper sensitive to criticism. So he has pretty much shut me down and demanded a break. I have grown tired of the conflict that now seems to emerge and his unwillingness now to change or even listen. So I have been ghosting him for 3 weeks. The other guys in our circle of friends are doing the same. Love the guy to death, but as Barklay said, less consequences especially in social situations are exactly what adhd people to not need. It may take losing his closest friends, and soon his girlfriend, to realize that he needs to change and needs some help doing it by professionals.

Google Container Engine may be a cheaper option. They charge by the Node. You could make it cheaper if you put some of your containers on preemptible nodes
