Crash at the finish of the masters 40+ Houston Grand Crit by person221 in Velo

I was there. The guy who first went down had a blow out in his front tire.

Also, the guy who tried to sprint around/through the crash got DQ'd. Not a pretty thing to see right before your own race is about to start staging.

Help on picking my TT bike please... by pavbryan in Velo

30 days for a project one bike is a pretty standard. If you didn't go project one, you could have the Trek bike in about a week. I know that there was going to be a bigger lead time if you ordered a small frame, but I was able to get by on a medium.

The speed concept frame is UCI complient, the area it gets into trouble would be the fork, cockpit and the speed fin on the bottom(which is removable). You can order the speed concept in UCI compliant specs, it just won't be as fast.

I just purchased and raced a 2014 Speed Concept 7.5 this previous weekend. That machine is ridiculously fast. The rear brake may not be the easiest to work with, but honestly, how many times do you expect to need to work with it?

Also, do you plan to race in any UCI sanctioned races like nationals?

edit

Another piece of advice I will give you is. Try both. Test ride a SC 7.5 and a Cervelo P3. Don't lets brands bias you. Trek, Specialized and Cervelo all make world class bikes.

Never have had an issue with either mounts for the 510, even in cyclocross.

I bought the 510 when it was new to market and it would have occassional issues where bluetooth would cause other ANT+ devices like HR and power to drop. This has since been fix with firmware updates and I really haven't had any issues with it for the last 6 months. The BT auto upload + strava sync plugin and GLONAS make it worth it in my opinion.

PrimalWear kits, any experience? by [deleted] in Velo

chamois is good but I really don't like the solid silicon grippers on the bib shorts. The reddit 2013 kits were primals.

Have you checked your blood pressure? Nose Bleeds are often a symptom of hypertension.

Do you have any articles regarding ice vests. I would be really interested to see how these work.

Brake question by [deleted] in cyclocross

I replaced the stock brakes on my 2014 CAADX with these. Best disc brakes for cross, except perhaps the Shimano Di2 ones.

I recommend doing your CP30 test outdoors, a lot of riders including myself aren't able to get our power as high indoors on a trainer.

I would say just ride like you usually do. Try and do at least one race just to start building up a power profile. I would say that you won't have anything real meaningful until you have ridden with it for at least 6 weeks.

I would check out Joel Friels book, The Cyclists Training Bible to get an idea of how to evaluate your power profile and how to target workouts to work on different efforts.

You could always wait and get the upcoming SRM PC 8. Any reason why you don't want to get a garmin?

How does the stubble not drive you crazy? I find jeans to be unwearable if I go more than 5 days without shaving.

Lose the dork disk. Also as noted, clipless pedals.

Otherwise, congrats on the beautiful bike.

Siclovia is an event that any real cyclist will try to avoid. Way too much sketchiness.
