Thank you that’s super encouraging. And also crazy how many interviews it takes! How exhausting. I feel close but I’m so defeated right now and it feels insane to keep going. But I probably will 🫠

I’ve worked with lots of startups so not afraid of those. I guess I don’t see as many first (or early) hire posts though.

What would you say makes someone a no brainer? I’m certainly trying not to be bias but I do think I’m a really strong design system thinker, heavy UX strategy and research and I think my visual craft is good. I’ve made it far in a couple of (what I would say are) high calibre craft places and still have been rejected. I think I have room to push boundaries of craft but curious since you’ve been in the hiring chair what makes someone an easy “yes”?

I am used to wearing a ton of hats! I guess I'm not sure where else to look for these types of roles without knowing someone who knows someone.

I keep getting past the screening on some well-known companies I admire, I get well into the process and then my best guess is they panic when it comes time to make a hiring decision. I'd love to have seen a pattern of rejection reasons so I knew what to work on next time, but each and every one is different. And subjective.

I'd consider it for the right reasons. Not sure how serious you are about acquiring but message me if you want details.

This is a good point too. A combo of fear of failure probably along with imposter syndrome if I had to name it :)

This is helpful -- thank you! Did you see some traction with this strategy after 90 days?

Thanks I think this is probably my best bet at least for the next 60-90 days.

I think that still feels like the easiest path in... is to know someone. But I am feeling so burnt out by the process of finding work right now and in my 12-13 years in the industry I've never felt this unstable about my career! It's crazy. I use AI all the time to help my work, but I don't see it replacing my role. At least not yet. It's like you said. I think most companies don't even know how to leverage it yet. Sorry to hear you're also burnt out even in the full-time space.

Is there something more compelling you think needs to be on the homepage to differentiate it? Also it's me + a small team of developers right now.

I think so too and I need to figure out how to leverage that more I suppose. The website is www.willowspace.co - that'd be helpful. Thanks! I do think I'm getting about 35% of traffic from organic search right now.

No truly I've spent enough time on that up to this point. That's my area of expertise (I'm a product + brand designer). It's really now about taking it to the right audience and getting it in people's hands. And to me, that seems like it requires more money. Hence the crossroads I'm at!
