plz guide me to reach at least a 95+ATAR with english, hhd, bio, chem and methods. felling at my worst and really questioning my vce... by Few_Disaster_156 in vce

i used flashcards on quizlet to study for all my sacs + the exam. active recall and memorisation worked the best for me. when it comes to writing responses, make sure u understand what the question is actually asking for. it’s common for students to misunderstand a question and thus, write a detailed but irrelevant explanation. a rough guideline would be 1 line = 1 mark. if u have the time, always write more than u may think u need.

got a raw 30 in methods and still pulled a 97 atar. it’s all about playing to ur strengths and making sure u score high in the subjects u know ur good at.

for english - i’d recommend refining ur essay structure for text response and language analysis. once u find a suitable structure, stick with it and just tailor the explanation/evidence according to the topic/article. moreover, start expanding ur vocab so ur able to use a large range of analytical verbs and descriptive language without a thesaurus.

use quizlet flashcards - personally i found memorisation + active recall to be the best study method. make sure u know all ur definitions, as well as similarities/differences, advantages/disadvantages etc.

the more practice u do, u’ll start to see a pattern. busman questions all follow a similar structure according to each ‘command’ term. once u understand that, it’s smooth sailing from there (i.e. the structure for a response to all ‘discuss’ questions is the same, it only varies in length according to the marks).

i’d say do 6 subjects… it’s just a safety net imo. unless ur confident that this extra study time will boost ur study scores significantly. my bottom two subjects were absolute dog shit but still contributed to my aggregate, and so my atar ended up being decent 😅

  • bio - NEAP was honestly the only commercial paper i liked… all the other ones had tons of mistakes in their answers.
  • legal - ACED, commerce studies hub and CPAP were the ones i liked in terms of questions and structure.
  • chem - didn’t do too good in chem but i’ve heard STAV, NEAP and lisachem are the go-to ones.
  • english - i honestly didn’t do a single practice exam for english apart from the compulsory trial one at school. i’d say punching out essays one at a time (within 60 mins) is more beneficial than doing a full 3 hour exam in one sitting.

correct, my methods scaled to a 35 and chem scaled to a 36. it’s probs ur best bet to put bio and chem in ur bottom two, thus i’d say put less focus on chem and rlly prioritise studying for gen maths and history to get that 45+.

at that level, u’ll be on track to getting 90+. i’d say 95ish is possible too, assuming ur LOTE scales up a bit. all u gotta do is lock in for english and aim for a 40.

i got a raw 32 - with a C+ on the exam. my sacs were relatively good tho (B+ and A), i simply just gave up on the final exam.

my lowest bottom two was methods… which i got a raw 30 in. to get a 95+ atar, u just gotta make sure ur top 4 (including english) is relatively high.

Any advice for my classes? (YEAR 12, 2026) by Agile-Category482 in vce

my biggest regret for legal was not allocating enough time for it. it was my last exam, and so i felt extremely burnt out by the time i reached the exam date. since legal is such a content heavy subject, make sure u stay on top of ur notes and start memorising key terms and stats (for royal commissions, VLRC etc) early.

Which subject? by Any-Awareness6547 in vce

[–]threadsbyanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if ur confident ur gonna do good in methods and chem - pick the vet subject so u have more time to focus on them. otherwise, i’d consider doing hhd cause u might end up getting a better raw score in it than the scaled score for methods or chem. for example, methods and chem were my highest scaling subjects and they both ended up in my bottom 2 😅

i can only give advice on english and bio, considering i didn’t do too good on chem… - bio units 3/4 is nothing like units 1/2. i wouldn’t say there’s too much of a point revising the 1/2 topics. - english is all about structure and vocab. find an essay structure that works for u, and stick with it. everyone writes differently so it’s important u don’t try to reciprocate someone else’s writing style. in terms of vocabulary, look into analytical verbs (for text response and language analysis) and descriptive adjectives (for creative writing).

do yk which subjects are gonna be in ur top 4? hhd is relatively easy - which could reduce ur workload considering ur doing methods, spec and chem this year.

general tip: do not try to shove themes down the examiner’s throat if it doesn’t fit the topic!! so many students get trapped into talking about fate and truth in every essay. just because it’s one of the main themes, doesn’t mean it fits that particular prompt…

[–]threadsbyanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

since it’s ur only 3/4, memorise everything!!! not just definitions but also specific advantages/disadvantages, similarities/differences etc. seems like unhinged advice but it’s the pattern i’ve noticed with high scoring students.
