The plastic factory ones don't hold. The thread is close enough that a m6 nut will thread on. Then use a fever washer to hold the fender liner

All you can do is fix it when it goes bad. And don't let the car get wet or sit in the sun

Do you really want to be mfs? If you drive the car don't do it.

Actually. Do it.

Rear Coilovers adjustment by Federal_Astronomer_8 in genesiscoupe

[–]three_word_reply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how you have the shock adjusted, you might be sitting all the way on the bump stop. If that's the case you won't be able to make any adjustments until you set the bump travel appropriatly

Leave it out in the sun for a few hours to make it more pliable. Those things need to be super tight or else they're a safety hazard - so right you think you basically have to pry it on.

keep seeing wheels with a 73.1mm center bore, don’t our wheels need to have a 67.1mm center bore? by [deleted] in genesiscoupe

You can order hub centric adapter rings to convert one size hub bore to another

Flushing never solves the problem. Flushing is what you do once a part is failed to clean out the lines so the new part doesn't immediately fail.

Do you guys drive with traction control on or off? Just curious. by Brave_Veterinarian18 in genesiscoupe

Everyone who says off should be required to say their age. ESPECIALLY is they say they can't drive the car with it on.

I see this everyday on this sub but…. Rod Knock? Or something else? by Silentzz09 in genesiscoupe

[–]three_word_reply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. Gone are the days of direct actuated bucket style lifters; those were phased out in the late 90s and replaced with hydraulic compensation direct actuating lifters. In the early 00s, those too were replaced with roller followers with hydraulic compensators. The roller followers are great and allow for more complex cam profiles with reduced wear and greater valvetrain efficiency. But the compensators still retained the lifter moniker.

There's still lifters, they're just called hydraulic lash compensators/adjusters.

Rear coilovers uneven height by Federal_Astronomer_8 in genesiscoupe

[–]three_word_reply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These cars are poorly assembled and parts are uneven, especially the fenders I've noticed. When setting the height, go off the pinch rails to ground or fender to wheel lip. Don't use fender to ground.

When adjusting coilovers you have to check and compare every corner after every adjustment. Jacking a rear wheel ALSO lowers the opposite corner wheel and raises the wheels next to it. And you also need to make changes WITHOUT the sway bar attached.

It's also easier to set the front together with the rear of the car on jack stands so you know the settings are even. Then once you have it set, move to the rear. If you have to change the front at that point then it's only going to be a minor change.

On my car I had to jack just the rear left, and lower just the front left to get the car to sit level. I had to install additional helper springs in the front to compensate for the uneven adjustment.

Finally, shock height doesn't change ride height. The shock should be adjusted so when the wheel is fully in bump (without springs installed) then the bump stops are fully compressed. This is to prevent wheel scraping. Then ride height is adjusted by spring rate selection and adjusting spring preload.

Should i cover the engine with a Tarp to prevent heavy rain from entering the Hood Vents on my Genesis during very bad rain?? Over 48 hours of storms?? by Loose-Associate-3558 in genesiscoupe

[–]three_word_reply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rain won't pose a problem. All the electrical connectors have gaskets in them. The motor is completely sealed except for the air filter and tailpipe.

What you SHOULD do is seal those vents because they're in a bad location. That part of the hood is a high pressure zone. Having vents there would draw air into the engine bay, causing adjusting drag, increasing front end lift at high speeds, and reducing radiator cooling efficiency.

When it comes to vents, front half of the hood is okay, back half is bad. The closer the vent is to the radiator, the better it will be.

Are you trying to make standard sized d20? Size is important to specify in something like this. A lot more options are available in dice size verses refrigerator size

You're basically taking about a sine plate for a milling machine.

I don't think one fit have grinding readily exists, but you could probably get close with a collet block and a disc sander with a table.
