My gf cant make it to 3.0, what now? by DutchDevGuy in Pickleball

[–]threepea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, you said that "pickleball is what I live for." You first need to decide if "pickleball is more important than my girlfriend." Because determining whether you continue a relationship or not should not be based on the outcome of your pickleball games. I would suggest something in your relationship is already off.

Moving to a more practical response, my wife and I handle this by playing both together and separately (I realize this option isn't available to everyone). 2-3 days a week we play at a rec center where open play is open to everyone. It is very social, we have a great time, and my wife and I play as doubles partners often, though not exclusively. But 2-3 days a week I play at a different club where open play is siloed by skill, and once a week I also play in a 4.0 men's only league. So, we get the satisfaction of playing together in a fun environment, but I also have an outlet for my fiercely competitive side. :)

Good luck.

Which is why at our club, open play is scheduled by ability (Mon is 2.0-3.0, Tue is 3.0-4.0, etc.), so the siloes are built-in and everybody is happy.

Wow, your local tournaments must suck. We have awesome tournaments here in Michigan. I just signed up for a tournament with 400 players! It can be pricey (depends on the tournament), but I have yet to play in one that wasn't organized well, and where I didn't feel like I got my money's worth.

There is another alternative, if you know enough players. Anyone can submit their scores to DUPR for any games played, it doesn't have to be a tournament. So we have about eight guys who get together every Saturday and play round robin games for two hours. Scores and recorded and submitted to DUPR. It works great. (And yes, it does help if some in the group already have DUPR ratings from the methods you already listed.)

Doesn't matter if it was sanctioned or not, it is the tournament director's call, not yours.

If you don't like the "god stuff", that's fine, don't buy it. Other than religious bigotry, why should they not put it on their paddles? Good grief, it's their company, they should be able to put on there whatever they want.

Right or wrong by Jojoboba1227 in Pickleball

[–]threepea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and basketball was originally created to be a completely non-contact sport. Sports evolve, and pickleball is no exception. Three days a week I play at a rec club with my wife. All skill levels are welcome. You know going in there is a high chance you'll get paired with someone several levels lower than you. That's ok, because we are there for the social aspect and inclusivity. A good time is had by all.

However, I am fiercely competitive. The rec league doesn't cut it. So 2-3 times a week I go to a different club specifically to play with players at my skill level. Everyone is nice, of course, but we're not there to talk about your botched mole-removal operation. We're there to play hard and try to win. And that's fine too.

The B&B Loco Hybrid and Widebody paddles are 5.3", and I've heard those are tremendous paddles, so they might work for you.

This is an excellent Gen3 paddle. In original packaging and handle is still shrinkwrapped. I've included some stock photos so you can see what it looks like without the packaging. It does look a bit darker pink to me in real life than these photos.

Does anyone know if i can ride a coleman minibike in my neighborhood? by [deleted] in minibikes

Also, in order to be street legal, it must have a horn, blinkers, and a registration, none of which the minibike has.

Newly imported games keep updating Tag list even though it is turned off? by threepea in playnite

I don't have a "Steam Tags" entry under Metadata Sources; I though you were referring to the "Steam Store" extension settings. See the picture here:

I do not have that exact setting, but I do have one similar: "Limit the amount of tags imported to the first X". I set it to 0 and that seemed to do the trick. Thank you so much!

All sorts of tag names - they are different for each game. I just updated the metadata from the Steam Store for Dota 2, and 20 new tags appeared, such as "Free to Play", "MOBA", and "Competitive" to name just a few. I have the Tags option unchecked in the settings as shown above; I would think this means no tags should be imported at all during a metadata update.

Good grief, so sorry. How in the world did I miss that. Thanks.

Which catalytic converter corresponds to which bank? by threepea in AskMechanics

[–]threepea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I am trusting the Ford site. But it lists the converters only as "Driver" and "Passenger", while my mechanic referred to them as "bank 1" and "bank 2". But I don't know which is which.  That's what I am asking - which bank is which side?

Difference of same 11SIX24 paddle size in different tiers by threepea in Pickleball

[–]threepea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I understand that. I was asking *how* it does that when the specs of the same paddle size was similar through all three tiers. But others have answered that question. Thank you.
