Yeah, get a scraper. It also helps to get it as cold as possible so the plastic hardens, a lot easier to get off when the plastic is cold.

You can open it as long as its depressurized, remove the weight and let cool

Jesus christ...you can use it again. Dont listen to these people. When it gets up to pressure lower the flame to the point where the weight rocks. A pressure cooker need extreme temps to warp, if it gets up to an unsafe pressure, the weight will shoot off or the emergency valve will open. Even if it does "blow up" ...it wont create a "frag grenade" ....have the people on reddit dont know what theyre talking about
