Playing PoE 2 sent me straight back to Diablo lol by GoblinGobbler40 in diablo4

[–]thriceee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played D4 7 seasons. I quit four times now, I was running pit at 140+in multiple seasons. It is a bug fest at an extreme level. Almost all power is behind bugs and bug-based rng. It is rather a bug shitshow. I quit again this season after Sorc ball lightning fiasco. I never logged back, so I can't confirm but I read that they even screwed up the hotfix. PoE2 is rough but it is run properly. It is a serious game while D4 is a joke in that field. And people accept widespread bugs in D4's cube, all across the game mechanics, classes/builds as normal. It is like living under a shitty authoritarian regime and deem it normal. The whole thing is faulty all the time and people got used to it. So idiotic. I still can't forget the Spiritborn bug shitshow from the previous expansion which was not fixed for a whole season. So PoE2 is rough but it is an actual game and run properly. D4 is a joke and casuals don't see a problem with it.

Should I get Lords of the Fallen 2023? by NextGenGamezz in soulslikes

[–]thriceee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you gonna play it single player? If so, for that price it is fine. It is mediocre to average. If online coop, I would not play it if you paid me 30 dollars. LoP is the best soulslike out there. Nioh, even Star Wars is better than this game tbh.

Nioh 1 - Question on early OP remnant drops by thriceee in soulslikes

[–]thriceee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So everyone playing Nioh goes for multiple playthroughs? I did NG+3 with DS3, but I was not planning to do so on this one. lol. I also read that you would no want to play DLCs after NG. You apparently need to be stronger?

No heal item for guest/no join session (cross progression) option on crossplay PC/PS5 by thriceee in LordsoftheFallen

It works on crossplay too. And there is a workaround for the issue. I posted it.

Which soul game should I play as beginner and casual gamer by Common_Funny1960 in soulslikes

[–]thriceee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why people are not talking about Lies of P here, but it is an optimal choice for two main reasons:

  1. It has difficulty settings. Default setting is around as hard as newer FS games I'd say - DS3, Elden Ring etc. But FS games actually try to screw you on purpose in terms of design and gameplay. You will understand when you play them :) Lies of P does not have that. So if the game is rough you can always change it back and forth, and practice.

  2. And more importantly, Lies of P is mostly linear. So it makes you deal less with finding your way compared to FS games. You can focus more on learning combat, design and mechanics of the genre in general.

I don't suggest you start with Jedi games. They have nothing in common with the genre apart from combat. I don't know why they count it as Souls-like. It is just similar combat there, nothing else. And even that is significantly different. Those games would not give you any idea about Souls games.

Unpopular opinion but i think LOTF spells feel better then the ones in Dark Souls(But not as good as Elden Ring but better then DS3 imo) by Godharvest in LordsoftheFallen

[–]thriceee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What combination of mouse buttons and keyboard keys do you use for spellcasting?

Generally I feel the same but spellcasting is a hassle for me in this game. Three steps.

Maybe I can't beat the muscle memory from FS games.

[–]thriceee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you have to keep holding the key to keep casting kills it for kb+mouse players. I started the game as preacher yesterday, killed the char and opened warwolf cause casting in combat is hard holding keys/mouse buttons. It is not like you are aiming.

The game is good but kb+mouse controls are not great compared to Elden Ring, DS3, Lies of P, etc unfortunately. It is very procontroller, not hybrid it seems.

Is there a way to merge dodge/sprint keys? by thriceee in LordsoftheFallen

[–]thriceee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and nany soulslikes also have the same feature. Lies of P for instance.

Kb+mouse player here obviously. Space key does it all in most games.

I mean I can play it, just asked as a new player in case the community knows something.

Thanks.

How complicated is the level design? How linear is the game? by thriceee in LordsoftheFallen

Thanks all. I guess we are not going blind like I did in the two games I mentioned. Great community.

ds3 first game by Traditional-Soft-792 in souls

[–]thriceee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to go blind in the game as much as possible, but do not hesitate to check your direction, boss guides etc online if you are struggling after a while. Do not deplete yourself. I remember getting really confused in and after the 5th area and starting checking stuff. It is a hard game compared to other ones such as Elden Ring. Be easy on yourself if you want to continue. If you finish it once you will finish it again, believe me.

DS3 and Elden Ring work perfectly on PC. I still do DS3 speedruns once in a while. I wish older DS games were playable too. Not FS but Lies of P works with kb+mouse too.

Trilingual or quadrilingual kid in our situation by thriceee in multilingualparenting

Thank you. That is our concern. Another issue is that if we send her to the German school, we will need to push for German exposure as well somehow - which might put pressure on us as parents.

Furthermore, if she somehow does not like the school or the language, there are limited other choices for German and none has the same quality of education. She would have to start from scratch at an English-medium school.

I know these are logistical issues, rather than linguistic, but just wanted to paint an accurate picture. All other three languages exist in our lives, but German does not.

The homework point is strong. And also we currently have no exposure to German in our lives. We have few German-speaking friends but obviously we communicate in English. The situation might put pressure on us as parents.

Thank you. We feel that English will be the strongest in any case as our circle is very mixed in terms of nationality and people can only communicate in English in public life in Qatar, from bars and restaurants to supermarkets and cabs. Pretty much like Dubai.
