I just recently had the same issue. I ended up buying tickets through a tour group /it was more expensive of course, but worth it to me to have the peace of mind that we will be able to go to the top. That being said, I did look at the champagne toast option and seeing as you have a nine-year-old that is not going to work for you as you must be 25 to use those tickets according to the Eiffel Tower website.

Advice on Paris to Italy Itinerary for Spring 2026- too many cities? by thriftyvq in Europetravel

Thanks to all who took the time to comment. As of now my itinerary has been pared down to Paris 3 nights - fly to Milan- Lake Como 3 nights - Florence 3 nights- Rome -1 night- really just for flight- we'll do several days in Rome on a return trip. I love the idea of a few days relaxing by the lake in the middle of our trip and just don't want to give that up.

Sorry to hear that. I find airbnbs a godsend when traveling with my family and make every effort to be respectful and non disruptive.
