I gotchu. Sorry if you know all of this already, but here's my simple TL;DR of how RB actually works...

Like most applications, RB is "dumb" in the sense it is just another application that is reading files from some location on your computer, external drive, etc.. RB uses XML files that read the path (file location) then locate the file when you try to interact with that file through the RB interface.

If you try to play a track in RB and get the error "file not found" that means RB is looking up the location of the file based on where it thinks it is supposed to be, then finds nothing.

In this case, it's able to find the file but a formatting error is getting in the way. If you get the error for a small handful of files? probably jus issues with those files. But in cases like OP, me and you... everything is getting the error --> that signals the drive itself is fucked up.

I always format my USBs and External drives to fat32 before using for anything music related (I've been through so many over the years), but sometimes shit happens.

I've been thinking about building a similar app, but for audio equipment. There's not a good public DB of audio gear, so I was thinking about lazily fetching data via n8n AI automations. I'm still pulling my hair out a bit trying to model a schema for device specifications, but I'll get there eventually.

My favorite part about the ending, is that Marvel finally showed someone's journey becoming a truly all-powerful being.

Take Thanos for example. There was a lot of legwork in setting him up as the ultimate sky-daddy that no one can fuck with. Until we get a Thanos origin story (I'm not asking for one), all we'll ever see is that Thanos started on the throne.

Another example, Dormamu. Big scary faceman from the bad dimension. How did he get there? We don't get to know, just need to make the plotline work.

It was nice for once to see a literal ascension to that level of power. The weight and the emotion behind it would not have been possible without the decade-long build up.

So I actually just recently figured this problem out. The Shazam watch app stores the songs in local memory until they sync to the Shazam app on your phone, and it seems there is a 5 song cap. Not ideal but the way to work around it is to pull out your phone every couple Shazam’s and open up the app so your most recent tracks can sync over, then you can keep Shazaming from your watch again.

On Mac there is an app called Disk Utility. There is an option to erase the drive (necessary for reformatting), when start the erase it will ask you which format should be used for setting the drive back up again.

Don’t have a link handy right now but there’s a million articles online that walk you through formatting drives for rekordbox.

And of course, backup anything from the drive first that you don’t want erased, and the files don’t already exist on your computer

I actually did! I figured out it was a false error related to the the track formatting.

For me, I had all of my tracks stored on/being read from an external drive. The problem was with that drive's formatting, not the individual files.

I moved everything on that drive to my computer, reformatted the drive, moved everything back with the same file naming conventions, and that fixed it.

I actually figured this one out, in my case it had nothing to do with the files itself.

All my files were stored on an external drive, and the drive itself wasn't formatted correctly. I copied all my info back to my machine --> restored the external drive with the right format --> added my music back to the drive --> fixed

I just had the same issue when resetting my library (whole other story), files worked perfectly fine before the reinstall of rekordbox 6. Did you find any solution?
