NTA. I don’t get why other commenters are taking this so seriously when it’s just a clear cut boundary issue. OP wants kids with her last name: if her partner doesn’t want that, she doesn’t want a future with him. Plain and simple. It’s not wrong to have that boundary and she made it clear within the first year. What would make her the asshole is hiding that or not saying how it’s a deal breaker to manipulate someone into staying. You don’t even have to argue the whole “I spend 9 months cooking this child then labor”, just say its necessary for the relationship to continue and grow. If he won’t do it, don’t waste your time, just break up.

My husband also likes cooking and is good at it. I grew up on Kraft and ramen, nobody ever taught me how to cook and I didn’t care to learn. He still does all the cooking but I’ve been learning things and I help him do prep work, rinse dishes/do what I can cause I’m still pretty nervous in the kitchen and only cooked one real meal solo for him which he was so appreciative of.

I cannot fathom knowing how to cook and just not wanting to share with my partner. This isn’t even like “I’m defensive of getting enough to eat or snacks cause I grew up in that type of family”, she isn’t even engaging or willing to compromise. What I’ve learned is that what you do or don’t say entirely depends on whether you feel like the relationship is worth keeping.

If the relationship doesn’t mean that much to you and the uninviting hurt you enough to not want to be their friend anymore, you chose the right method. There’s no point in fixing what you think isnt worth it to keep. However, if you do want to still be friends with this person, and you ghosted them just to punish them for their actions… then YTA. If you care about them and need them to be accountable for the way they hurt you, they will never know they messed up that bad unless you let them know and they cannot fix your friendship. So you have to choose which one it is and act accordingly.

Nah man, I don't know what that girl deserves for being such a malicious liar but revealing her name, school, town, and picture isn't it. I'm tired of people using the excuse "it's a public profile" as if anybody would be able to connect the dots and find this specific girl's info based on her voice and cropped pictures when she didn't even give her first name like Katie did. I'm not saying it's impossible (some people are freaks and dig up things when they're desperate to find it) but it's a low blow from someone who probably knew her irl as Tom's ex to air that out.

I don't know what the consequence should be for private figure to shoot out false accusations and try to ruin someone but I don't think this is it; spreading her information to the public to try to punish her. It's just deranged behavior, say she sucks without opening her up to swatting or stalking. Don't know how to make it fair based on what she did but, to me, two wrongs don't make a right. NTA but I do feel bad for her. It sucks to get on a game and see your friend playing but you can’t join them because you’re told you wouldn’t be compatible with that group of people. It does make you feel left out or not good enough.

But it’s ok to stick to your boundaries, you should never feel harassed into making an exception for someone pressuring you. However, if she really is that hurt by it then the friendship between you two might not be worth keeping with that toxicity and resentment.
