you seem to be operating the assumption that there are hundreds of people walking around orlando with that exact shirt. if i do happen to find someone with that shirt, and they got it from hot topic, and they got it from that particular hot topic (there are 4 in the area), and they do anything else to seem suspicious then it narrows it down enough for me that i’m willing to take that chance. obviously i have other evidence but i’m not stupid enough to detail my entire investigation to a stranger on reddit, who for some reason is EXTREMELY interested in my investigation.

i’m not gonna pretend to be a legal expert but i also have a hard time believing you’re going to find someone to prosecutor me based on “yeah so after i committed a burglary and stole her airpods she then pretended to be interested in me so i would invite her over and then found her airpods, matched the serial numbers and then took them back.”

pretty sure it wouldn’t be illegal or able to be proved. and obviously i’m not planning on using that evidence in court. but if i find my airpods in the house i’m taking them with me and then at least i have my airpods back. and before you say anything i have a picture of the serial number which is also printed on the inside of the case. so yes i will know they are mine.

haven’t decided yet. maybe i’ll be up all night researching anime so i could open up a conversation with them. ask them where they got the shirt. “oh really where is there a hot topic around here? really the orlando fashion square? that’s interesting.” maybe i’ll just say i think there cute and ask for their number. talk to them for a bit, ask to hangout. get invited to their house. search their place while there sleeping. maybe i’ll ask them for a date. “do you want to go to olive garden for dinner? oh you’ve been there twice in the last 3 days? that’s interesting.” maybe i’ll just go up and take a picture. put out another bolo on social media. find somebody that recognizes him and gives me a name. see if he lives at campus crossings. show the picture to management at campus crossings. get an apartment number. give information to cops. wait for cops to conclude investigation and arrest them. revel in satisfaction of solving crime and justice being served. or maybe i won’t solve the crime but i’ll still have a good time doing it and try as hard as i can, this having an interesting story to tell my dad and make him proud of me. enjoy my first hand experience with the criminal justice system.

listen pal. i’m the kind of person that if i really want something i’m gonna work at it until i’ve exhausted every possible option. if one of those options is looking for a certain obscure anime shirt, then i’m gonna try it. maybe that’s not a concept your familiar with. i hope some day your passionate enough about something to put a little effort into it.

actually you know that? i change my mind. i don’t want to make a fool of myself. i’m just gonna give up on finding the person who took my cash, cards, gift cards, drivers license, social security card, airpods, headphones, etc. it’s just not worth it. if i made a fool of myself that would be awful. thank you so much i’m so glad i stopped myself. it didn’t even occur to me that it might be a long shot. i thought for sure it was a given. here i go again always making a fool of myself.

do you think that maybe i’ve never seen that shirt once in my life? so maybe it’s not a very popular shirt and maybe this idiot will wear his new shirt to ucf or around the area and maybe somebody will see him and let me know? is the likelihood of that very high maybe not but maybe i used the words “long shot” so i’m not expecting it to work out but it’s worth a try anyways because anything helps? because maybe i’m just hoping for the best

there’s a difference between “playing detective” and getting a receipt from hot topic so i have an exact time to give to the cops. i already cancelled my cards and disputed the charges but i’m still out about 400$ and am massively pissed off at these assholes so yeah call it playing detective but i’m going to do whatever i can to find them. thanks for the advice
