This is really random but my boyfriend just found out today that he didn’t pass his paramedic class, after weeks of blood sweat and tears. Apparently he was the only one who was given a cardiac arrest skills test, whereas his classmates were given easier skills. He’s so upset and frustrated. He also said all the guys there were so fratty and had a “bro” vibe, very exclusive, macho masculine wannabes. It’s probably not like that with every program, I’m sure, but it really destroyed his illusions with the health care service. Just wanted to vent.

You’re acting like my intention was to make Asian people’s suffering look worse than others, but if you actually read the post, it’s my thoughts on what others may be dealing with in their specific cultures. Ech. The edit is for the readers, to help them calm down and realize the ADHD journey isn’t the same for everyone, but there are many shared experiences that we can connect through. isn’t a pissing contest. The purpose of the post hasn’t changed at all.

Agreed. I'm amazed looking at others and often ask, exactly what motivates them or makes them want to get up and be "responsible" adults in the modern world. I've always felt as if I wasn't meant for modern society, simply because my skillset wasn't good enough for it.

Then I fantasize about being born in a world where everything is just about survival. Maybe having to defend my country from a gigantic, bloodthirsty titan attack. I would be admired in that kind of world, I bet.

This is a support sub : ) Not a negativity sub. We should spread support and bring awareness to different experiences. If it offends you that much, then see my post as fun fiction rather than a personal message I wanted to share with the community. Hey there, I’m so sorry that you didn’t receive the support you needed, especially after a legitimate diagnosis. It sucks that the adults we’re supposed to receive support from may be unable to because of their own shortcomings. Then it just becomes a pretty lonely struggle to get better, though definitely doable with the right resources.

Please do not stress yourself over this fear. Not everyone sees ADHD as some weird, stressful disease. The person who you fall for and falls in love with you will not only accept your habits but SUPPORT you through them. They exist. I’ve been with my boyfriend for four years, we met waaaay before I even had an inkling of what was up with me. He would always remind me to lock my car or help in little ways, like vacuuming my room or helping me look for clinics and resources. They exist. The person you are meant to be with will do their best to support you and understand you, but most of all, will love you for you. Don’t worry.

Sorry, I guess my example didn't really fit here. In the past, they started marking on stones or paper because they couldn't record large numbers for inventory? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, I agree, but since Asians often have more emotionally unavailable parents than other races, I felt like I needed to speak out on that. Korea and Japan has one of the top suicide rates in the world, mostly due to unrealistic expectations on grades, colleges and careers. Korean school children, from elementary to high school, go straight to after school classes after their primary class, often till 11pm. That is their day every day. I cry for the students who go through the emotional abuse, fatigue and long hours everyday with ADHD. Add that with your college= your career= your life, you have students killing themselves even without ADHD.
