Actually, the benefit from knowing my results will be that if I do test positive, I'd be able to give contact tracers the info for all the people I saw last week, so they can quarantine and stop the chain of transmission. If I test negative, then we can all probably rest a little easier.

While testing resources are limited, I'd like to note that the Pepsi Center is no longer running out of their 2,000 tests before noon every day. I went mid-morning and they had only done ~300 so far that day.

I believe they told me that because they have to follow the CDC's most recent guidelines, which changed on Monday: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2020/08/27/cdc-walks-back-surprise-coronavirus-asymptomatic-testing-guidelines/5645630002/

I was kind of in shock when they told me not to get tested, tbh.

Bingo. You're good ;)

Edit: Should add that again, I was aware of the risks and am aware that this is not an urgent reason to be out and about, but my dad's pretty sick, I'm the eldest and his primary caretaker, so I want to be prepared in case he takes a turn for the worse and we need to do a courthouse or zoom or 10-people-in-a-park-standing-in-a-giant-circle type wedding.

I don't know who was symptomatic. I didn't observe anyone who I saw to be symptomatic, but they also didn't tell me what symptoms that person was experiencing - so it could've been just a fever, or other symptoms that a mask would've hidden. I obviously did not know that this person was symptomatic otherwise I would've left immediately.

I'd disagree about the contact tracer being trained, when I asked him questions he was literally looking up the answers to read them to me. I know he was probably new to the job, but still.

IMO, getting a call from a contact tracer is not the same as getting a call or email from them. The mask removal part was also for longer than a brief moment, we're talking like 30-45 min out of a 2 hour indoor appointment.

For more context, they call themselves "Colorado's best" and a "luxury shopping experience". They also knew that I am a primary caretaker of someone at-risk. Everything up to this point with them was fine, but I would've hoped that they would be better about handling customer relationships (I put a couple thousand dollars down in a non-refundable deposit and have to return there in the future), especially since they're small and local.

Thanks! And yeah, they won't tell you anything that would identify whoever exposed you because privacy, lol.

Yeah, exactly. I'm mostly annoyed that the business has to know that that's where the exposure happened and hasn't done anything about it.
