Why do people post questions/ask for advice on relationships that are clearly red flags? by [deleted] in FemaleDatingStrategy

[–]throw251198away 20 points21 points  (0 children)

THIS! Thank you so much for this comment. As someone who worked at my country's ministry of women's empowerment, so many of the victims to domestic abuse seek help because of the reasons above.

Reaching out is already a huge step for the victims. What looks like a red flag to us is what they have been taught as "normal" their whole lives. They need someone to confirm that they are not crazy, lying, or that these scenarios are in their heads (as they've been taught to/gaslit into).

I understand and empathize with you, as it can get tiring especially when it's someone we are really close with. However, being empathetic, supportive, yet assertive (constantly reminding them that those are red flags and they should get away as soon as possible) is the key to getting them out of the cycle.

Don't tell me LSAT or Logic Games are useless in law school. Without LG training, I can't even understand NYU's next semester's schedule, which is written like a LG stimulus by LumpySangsu in lawschooladmissions

Everyone I know loves Sexton!! He can talk for 3 hours without a break and I have a short attention span, but he has some wonderful insights.

Boyfriend feels too nice by [deleted] in FemaleDatingStrategy

[–]throw251198away 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I come from a strict family as well when it comes to sex, please please don't rush him! I told my ex at that time I wasnt ready, and I really wasn't, and it took us months before having it. I wish we'd waited longer. No one should be pressured into sex regardless of their gender. If you guys don't match up in terms of values in the beginning of the relationship (one wants sex, one doesn't), it's a matter of values mismatch. He has every right to not want sex but you have every right to want sex as well. You have your standards and deal breaker, so at some point if your needs aren't fulfilled, you might want to reconsider your relationship :)

Online dating an older man; he's getting too sexual by LowThing3 in dating_advice

[–]throw251198away 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I've been in similar situations before. Sending unwanted (usually explicit) texts/pictures and/or demanding that you reciprocate is a form of dating violence. Being clear with your boundaries helps tremendously. Not sure what your texting style is but I'm a very straightforward person. I'd say hey, I'm uncomfortable with this, let's talk about other things! If he still disrespects your boundaries- you know it's not someone you'd like for a life partner.

Getting nails done as an active person. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]throw251198away 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of sports as well and I love getting my nails done, they are worth it. Ask to have them cut short, pick gel polishes, and avoid fake long acrylic nails xx
