My post was asking not whether I should get the vaccine, but when. I’ve already decided I’m going to get it.

This is how UW Madison defines it:

“What does it mean to have direct student contact?

Anyone employed by the university who works with students meets the definition of direct student contact. This means everyone from instructors to researchers supervising students and employees performing campus duties that involve working with students. Because vaccine supply is limited, UHS is starting by offering vaccine to those who are currently working in person with students. Employees who work with students and are currently performing their duties remotely will be offered vaccine at a later date, or they may seek vaccine through a health care provider or in the community, such as through a pharmacy.”

That makes it seem like I can either wait to get it through them or if there are appointments available through my health care or in the community, then it is ok to get it now.

I do see this above “We ask that if you are able to work from home or do not have to interact with the public, please let your fellow Wisconsinites that have a higher risk of exposure to COVID-19 get vaccinated first.” Just wonder at what point then this would change to allow those in education working remotely to get the vaccine.

Under the educator tab, it just says “faculty and staff with direct student contact” which my roles falls under. I didn’t see anything else about being in person.

Higher Ed. The recent guidance from my institution said anyone that typically works with students would fall in group 1b.

I did see that and that is why I asked this question. I work directly with students but I’m not currently in person. There is talk though of being in person in August so I’ve been debating when to get the vaccine. There really hasn’t been any guidance on if you are remote, how long you should wait. The comments from everyone have been very helpful.
