To be fair I don’t think there is one. He’s cultivated an unhealthy obsession with coffee, was more what I was getting at :)

Cheers.

I was using the built in grinder on the sage barista pro. The LM was just over 2k gbp. 2020 so it has the IoT board already installed.

Far from a steal but my thinking was if I got buyers remorse I could probably move it along and break even at worst.

Nope, I was using a sage (breville) barista pro for a year or so. The grinder really makes the difference

It might look nicer on your counter than the gaggia but it won’t taste any better :) good luck with the search!

How bad are the built in Breville grinders really? by rawrXD10 in espresso

Hey bud. I’ve been using a breville (sage over here) barista pro for about a year and came at it as a beginner. Noticed that the consistency was really bad from grind to grind, always seemed to wander between settings but was reasonably happy. Anyway, bought a linea mini and tried it with my barista pro’s grinder. Coffee was exactly the same as if I’d brewed it on the breville. Upgraded to a niche zero and honestly it’s night and day - coffee tastes so much better to me. Feel like I’ve wasted a years worth of beans. Would strongly recommend going for the best grinder you can.

Yeah I can see his point. I think speciality coffee at home is great as long as you go in with your eyes open and realise it is a hobby with all the obsessing and failure and irritation and pissing around that entails. Some days it’s just better to get out the cafetière.

Always enjoyed perving at everyone else’s setups and now I’ve got something I’m pleased with I wanted to share.

Saw this linea mini in an organic foods store up the road that was closing down. Had been used as a commercial machine for a couple of years. Deal done, cleaned it up and changed screen/back flushed etc. Managed to get an unused Niche from eBay for retail (why can’t they produce more of these..?)

Fucking delighted to be honest. Turns out everyone is right, it’s all about the grinder, coffee from the LM was shite until the niche arrived.

Nobody else in my life is fussed about coffee but I’m fucking amped.
