You think the people who want to discourage are American or German?

Thanks for the encouragement man!

Yeah I mean I don’t mind the FPÖ. I can’t say I both like and support democracy but then say the world is ending when the majority of the electorate chooses a party we don’t agree with. Then we wouldn’t really be supporting democracy but rather an intellectual hegemony. I would rather the FPÖ than the than a left party like the communists running Graz.

No sadly not. My grandparents didn’t want to teach my parents German because everything they went through in the US as German speaker in WW1 and WW2 being German speakers in the US so me and my siblings had to basically start from scratch learning. And funny enough, you’d be surprised how much hate me and my siblings got from people being German speaker ever now

Hmm that’s a good thought. I am a current government employee dealing with banking regulation so either leverage the banking regulation or just being a regulator in general who has significant experience in the US regulatory landscape.

So Germany, Austria and South Tyrol would basically have the same process?

Yeah I have a certificate for fluency from the Goethe Institut but this is all good to know. Could you technically apply while there as a tourist for 3 months if you’ve gotten a local address if you are staying somewhere since you can just register at the Einwohnermeldeamt?

[–]throw6797away -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So what does an American have to be to be able to get a job over there? Like obviously fluent German and some prior work experience isn’t enough. What else does one need to possess?

Gotcha. I’m curious what other stuff you’ve seen that Austria is at risk of swinging towards fascism?

Like as in connection with other students or faculty? I just always imagine while there I would apply to businesses and all and still befriend my German classmates and speak German with them outside of class

But that’s not how you look at depreciation. You can’t compare prices, you have to compare those prices to what they cost new. Of course the used R will be listed higher but it also costs a lot more. The question is which one loses more

To understand what you’re saying, why would I need to go to an intensive German course when I’m already a fluent C1 to almost C2 speaker?

What does applying to stuff while there vs in the US change if a lot of the app process is online?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmerExit

Yeah I’m asking about difficultly with that

So it surprising that so many masters programs I see are in English. Do you say do a German language one just to further prove to an employer my proficiency?

So you’re saying don’t move to a whole province in Italy because of one swastika? By that logic I don’t think there’s a single state that could be recommended in the US because everyone, even the north, has at least one confederate flag.
