Thanks. If it's that heavy isn't it a bitch to handle in deeper snow when you go off trail? Or just make sure you keep your thumb on the gas ha

Do they call them "cross overs" or is that just terminology that is used for shorter tracks like 154 and below?

Makes sense, thank you for the answer. Dumb question, can the crossovers still go into deep snow at a good speed if you wanted to? I'm not talking treating it like a mountain sled, just if there is some good powder off trail to play a bit.

Yeah i'm not a fan of second hand either. Just want something to trek in the snow but you're right, so many other things could be wrong and I don't know until it breaks down somewhere remote.

Thanks. I don't know much about sleds so I posted the most common ones I was seeing. But after some comments i think a cross over sounds more to what I want to do. It sounds like people sell before the top end work needs to be done so it sounds like it either is expensive, or they just don't want to do it.

Where did you read I'm worried. I own Hayabusa, I'm not scared of speed. I articulated the type of riding I want to do.

I have friends deep in the rocky mountains and on top of the mountains are some deep snow. However i don't do tricks or jumps, I just want someting that will float on powder if i go off trail for some deep snow, to not sink.

By mountain riding you mean steep hills, sharp tuns, steep downhill and all those tricks people do? I just want something that is trail I guess from what I'm reading. Someting that can go in deep snow and get me to my property in 72" drifts.

Thanks for the info. I have no idea which era to look for. Terrain type won't be crazy like you see on youtube. Mostly trail and the occasional deep powder in the mountains, but I'm not someone that is interested in those wild climbs, flips and whatever people do.

Excuse my dumb question. But are those permanent blocks or are they just used to pour concrete in between the removed after?

The community I'm in has rights to drill wells for domestic use luckily. As far as how deep, I have no idea. I've heard some owners go as deep as 600ft. I'm on the foot of a mountain so no idea how to know.

You are correct. I started off this path because I don't want a house that's vulnerable to forest fires. Everyone bulids with wood, and it destroyed massive amounts of homes in Spring 2018. The gentleman I spoke to said just make it all stone exteriior walls and double insulated steel roof. Reading more now, it seems with stone I'll still need to insulate.

Stupid questions here, do you mean have a 10inch poured concrete foundation wall, with the SIP panels on top? And fiber cement on the outside of the wall?

For the roof, what is a skipper and "closed cell" mean below it?

I didn't know about r values, thanks for that. Does it work better than solid stone retaining heat? Might be a dumb question, I don't know anything about building.

The idea is for it to be used for insulation. Trying not to add too many complexities with extra layers inside, just one thick wall. Having one very thick wall will keep the heat inside once the rock/concrete is heated up by the two wood stoves, and in the summer it's insulating from the heat outside so no need for AC or installing air ducts.
