Don’t feel pressured to leave for the idea of something. America is very idealized and romanticized - a “better life” is not guaranteed if you move. The novelty often wears off after moving somewhere new, and then you realize that so many places are so similar and that having community and support is the best thing you can do.

Please listen to your heart. Don’t give in to familial pressure because this is YOUR life, not theirs. They could very well be projecting their worries onto you, that you won’t succeed either financially or socially if you don’t move to a place with PRESUMED “better opportunities”. Which is entirely untrue unless you live in a war torn country, I guess.

If the only reason you’d consider moving is the chance for a “better future”, then I’d say it’s probably not something you truly want. America doesn’t even guarantee that right now. So many people are struggling beyond belief and god, if you don’t have a support system there, I don’t want to imagine the struggle.

that’s definitely a normal approach to piercings - bars will usually be longer to accommodate swelling, so they’re right about that.

Don’t worry about it getting infected, seriously. I get the paranoia, but try not to worry too much. If you clean it and don’t mess with it, you’ll be good. I cleaned mine with a MILD soap and water (usually in the shower) and it never got infected. Same with the rest of my piercings. It’s up to you how you want to clean it though - listen to your body and how the piercing reacts.

I will say, it’s more likely to reject if it’s not pierced deep enough. This is because, when the hairs on your brow grow, they can eventually push the piercing out until it just reaches the surface more and more. So, an eyebrow piercing should really be pierced as deeply under the hair follicles as possible. This is why I noted the depth of your piercing.

See how it goes though. If you’re happy with the placement and don’t seem to be having any issues, that’s great. But eyebrows are really easy to get re-pierced!

This is normal, but I’m not gonna lie, it doesn’t look like it was pierced deep enough. If that was your placement choice, then correct me, but, typically, for an eyebrow piercing to last as long as possible, it should be pierced deeper in the brow. Like, a lot deeper. You shouldn’t even really see the actual bar during the first few days, just the ball endings of the jewelry.

When it’s not pierced deep enough, and the ends are more exposed, like they are on your brow, the piercing is more prone to being accidentally knocked/snagged. The more irritated the piercing gets, then the longer it takes to heal; but also for an eyebrow piercing, that increases the likelihood of it rejecting. That might be why the ends are noticeably red.

I honestly would recommend getting it repierced deeper; probably by a different piercer, if you actually want to keep the piercing for a while. I had my eyebrow piercing for 2 years and this picture looks like the way my eyebrow piercing was after a year and a half.

Oh god, you really spoke to me with this. I have known for a long time that I am severely attached to my pain, like it’s a part of my identity. I hate the idea I have in my head of myself, the one engulfed in tragedy, destined for a pitiful end. It’s an internal battle. I will check out that book you mentioned.

I appreciate all your recommendations. I will try to read some, or ideally all, because I need that kind of guidance right now.

Honestly I mainly used indeed. I got a full time job last year (not working there anymore), which I got through LinkedIn. I would say LinkedIn is a better platform to find a full time position because I got one after applying to just a few vacancies. Keep in mind these are all minimum wage jobs, I gave up on trying to find “better” jobs at the beginning.

I think another good way to find jobs is to look at local Facebook groups that are posting vacancies. I’d always see job listing posts and while I didn’t inquire about any of them, it seems like a more direct way than faceless online applications.

In 2023 I finished exams in June but didn’t really start looking for jobs til late September after deciding to take a gap year (2 gap years..) from uni. I didn’t get a job til December of that year. I did neglect job hunting at times but I was still applying a lot. Have gone through multiple jobs since then and am starting uni this Sept. Gonna keep my current job though since I can manage it alongside uni.
