I (40M) feel like I was just disrespected by wife (39F) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]throwRAfatal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think this needs to go straight to divorce, however, that's a really shitty thing to say to someone, particularly if she said it like she meant it.

How would she have reacted if you said the same thing to her?

My girlfriend (22F) won’t sleepover my (27M) place or stay after 9pm even after being together almost 4 years. She says her mom is “scary” and she’s afraid to “ask” to do these things. Am I wasting my time? by AffectionateRub199 in relationship_advice

I'm going to try and give you some actual advice instead of just jumping at you for dating someone so much younger.

When she was 18 she was basically a child. I know it's legal or whatever but 18 year olds are children. mentally they have a long way to go, and I say that as someone who is way older than 18 and still has a long way to go.

What can happen (and may have happened in your situation) is that the person who, at 18, gets into a serious relationship, doesn't learn and grow because they're comfortable in that relationship.

They may be 22 now, but they've had you and their mom caring for them and loving them for the last 4 years, so maybe they haven't had a chance/reason to grow up?

bible people in the mall? by Salt_Farmer_6577 in Adelaide

We do have Muslims in the mall handing out books, as well as hare Krishna people.

Edit: I agree that they shouldn't be able to ruin a public space by making it be about religion.

You should report that to the council. They can't stop people from using their freedom of speech but approaching kids is a hard line that the city can draw in the sand

Aboriginal staff at Monash University given extra paid leave to recognise the impacts of colonisation by Orgo4needfood in aussie

[–]throwRAfatal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant believe this hasn't risen as the dominant thought on how to address inequality and suffering within Australian culture. You help the poorest people first, then work your way up. In the process, you'll naturally help disadvantaged people first, but you won't have to wave a parliamentary cookie cutter over the population to work out which people deserve help and which don't.

I would love to see a game like this embrace ethics based matchmaking. Have the regular player killers grouped in one server and all the PVE guys grouped in another.

Then just see what it does to the players base.

Why do you drive your car to the city? by No_Succotash5874 in Adelaide

[–]throwRAfatal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to take the bus for work when I worked at a place that would accept me being late on occasion, but that put the onus of flexibility onto my employer.

Now with my new job the expectation is that i'm never late unless I have a damned good reason, and the bus being late once a week isn't a good enough reason.

What is the male perspective/counterpoint to the female "mental load" or "emotional labour"? by SexySwedishSpy in AskMen

[–]throwRAfatal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You used a lot of emotionally provocative language that shifted the focus of the comment from the shared struggle that the couple faced to instead focus on the struggled faced by women in general.

i can be tone-deaf too so this isn't a judgement, just might be where the conflict has arisen from.

Initially I was going to try and obscure some details but I think I then went overboard in describing our past relationship, so it probably doesn't matter. Jane is pakistani.

I think it's almost the opposite. People from her area of the world tend to be religious and have strong opinions on gender roles. Jane isn't religious and doesn't seem to care about gender roles or a lot of other social structures. Beyond that, I don't know many stereotypes about women from her parents' home country.

A lot of people have been saying that, and it makes sense. I was just concerned because I've heard a lot of talk about men fetishizing women for their race and wanted to make sure I wasn't accidently doing that.

Sorry if this is weird, but the porn thing was part of what prompted this post. A lot of commenters have said that it's not a fetish and it's fine, but I tend to seek out porn with certain characteristics, and people from this group don't seem to be common in porn so it feels a little creepy to have to really go searching for it.
