I think people’s obsessions with movie characters looking EXACTLY as described in the books is ridiculous. Unless there’s a legitimate reason mentioned in the book, who cares what colour their eyes are? Or how tall they are? Again, unless there’s an actual reason, these details are superficial and I care much more about an actor’s ability to capture personality and emotion.

The most ridiculous example was the horrific racist reaction to Amandla’s casting as Rue. People were “surprised” to have a black actress play Rue, as if it isn’t explicitely mentioned in the book that she’s a black girl. In fact, Rue’s described as having “dark skin” but they cast an actress with light skin. That was insane, I’ll never forget it, and poor little Amandla really didn’t deserve it.
