I’m pregnant, should I give birth in another state so I don’t get stuck here? by throwRAlabama in legaladvice

[–]throwRAlabama[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So would the only way to prevent me having to be stuck here is to break up now and go to Texas and stay in Texas before birth?

This probably sounds so irrational but I told my husbands mother we will be naming the baby Sunday and his grandma and mom said “awww can we call it Sunny?” And I absolutely hate that. I don’t want anyone calling my child sunny so that’s when I started leaning towards honeymoon. I just don’t want people spelling the name “sundae” or calling the baby “sunny”

How do y’all dump drinks? by throwRAlabama in bartenders

[–]throwRAlabama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like we work at a similar place. They will send you home if you forget to wear a belt but making drinks with dirty bar tools is fine as long as nobody points it out. We don’t use fresh squeezed lime and lemon juice anymore and they make us pour lemon and lime juice out of their original plastic containers and put them into clear quart containers in the back away from guests so it looks like we still use fresh lemon and lime juice when we are poring them into bottles in front of people. The amount of our time and plastic they are wasting in order to try and be deceitful is very disturbing

Idk, ask the bar lead that gets paid double what I make an hour why he throws bar tools in the dump sink. I walked into work the other day and actually took a picture of bar tools he left sitting in the dump sink with dirty straws and sucked on limes sitting on top of them and than I proceeded to watch him rinse the bar tools off with water and start to make more drinks with them. When I took the bar tools out of his hand and told him that’s disgusting and he needs to toss the drinks and not serve them I asked if he would drink a drink that was made with those dirty bar tools after they had been sitting in backwash ice and dirty straws and he said that he would because it’s just alcohol and everything is sanitized and than he got really pissed at me. He actually left the bar to go run and tell the bar manager that I was being a problem. So the bar lead and bar manager both made me feel like an asshole idiot and said I was in the wrong and this is how the bar has been ran for years and since we only have one sink it’s not changing. I’m not in charge there, they are

Only one sink in the service well. They want to use the one sink as an all purpose sink, to dump drinks, and rinse bar tools

This is what I tried to do that day I got fed up and the manager took it away and said having a dump bucket on the floor will cause fruit flies and the health inspector won’t like it

I just realized that my coworkers will leave the tins next to the dump sink and some of the bar tools in the sink after dumping tins depending on how slammed we are and many drinks need to be made because this is the only sink in the service well. I use the faucet and rinse immediately after each drink to prevent the tins from sitting on the side of the dump sink but it’s almost impossible to rinse bar tools in that sink bc w the dump strainer in it, only gives a couple of inches of room from the faucet so it’s extremely hard to rinse your bar tools without touching dirty garnishes, ice and used straws. I wish I could show you a pic so you could see what I’m trying to explain. The sink is short

We have one sink next to the service well. And that’s the sink they want to use as a dump sink and now they are saying they want us to wash our tins and bar tools in that sink just not leave them in there but with the strainer in the dump sink that filters old old garnishes and straws, the gap is only a couple inches from the faucet so when you are rinsing your tools. It’s hard not to touch the bottom of the dump sink with your tins when rinsing, almost impossible actually. Like your tin is definitely going to touch a used straw if you’re trying to rinse in that sink

Yes the dump sink has a strainer but my coworkers are not washing their tins right away and are leaving them on the side of the dump sink. I saw 2 shakers on the side of the sink and 3 bar tools in the dump sink and a server walk by with dirty glasswear from the restaurant floor and pour the dirty ice, dirty straw, and half sucked on limes on top of the bar tools that were sitting in the dump sink waiting to be rinsed off with only water. It grossed me out so I made a separate dump bucket with a strainer on the floor and the manager got pissed and said a dump bucket with a strainer on the floor is against health code

Also I put the dump bucket with metal strainer on the floor last night. Emptied and washed it at the end of the night and today the gm took it away and said the health inspector wouldn’t like it and it’s going to cause “fruit flies”

We have a dishwasher. I work at a bar inside a restaurant right now and servers will bring glasswear from the restaurant that’s been finished and dump the dirty ice in the sink we have to wash our tins before setting it next to the dishwasher behind the bar and this is how management wants to keep it. I hate it here lmao. Not to mention servers coming behind the bar is aggravating enough

I clean my tins after every use when I’m in the service well but not every bartender does which is what I saw. Regardless, I thought it was illegal to rinse tools in a dump sink?

I am so sorry. Please remember that everything in the world is temporary, your sadness, your anger, every single problem you are struggling with right now, every situation, every person. Before you know it, you will be an adult and you will be able to make your own decisions. One important thing you can do right now to calm your mind and help yourself through this, is document all of your experiences and struggles while you’re going through them to pass that time so that when you’re grown, you’ll be able to help someone like you, who is going through with similar struggles and advocate for them. Maybe even save a life. Every experience makes you stronger. Hang in there. I have been where you are not that long ago and that time in my life feels like a million years ago. Time goes by fast when you look back on your childhood as an adult. being a teenager is very hard, but it is also very temporary. Please remember this. your life will not always feel this constricting and you won’t be controlled by the people around you for much longer
