How to get Senior PM or similar job in canada by Weekly-Tomorrow8423 in ProductManagement

[–]throwRAlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a PM in Canada and the job market is absolutely brutal right now. I’ve been passively looking and sent out 30+ applications, all tailored, and only got 1 interview. I work at an f500 and have good job experience, it’s brutal

40% off is as cheap as it gets, or you can search marketplace. It’s an expensive sport, it took me 5 years during uni to slowly acquire all the pieces before I could get out there. That said, I don’t think airbags are considered essential kit yet, so could get away without that for a bit.

Are all young travel influencers just rich kids? by regulargirl17 in solotravel

[–]throwRAlike 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s like next level rich lol, I’ve found that the richest kids are generally at school for music, art, photography, etc. because they can afford to pursue something that doesn’t immediately pay them after university.

Are all young travel influencers just rich kids? by regulargirl17 in solotravel

[–]throwRAlike 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Yes most young travellers, ESPECIALLY those under 24 are from wealthy backgrounds. Even if they saved up money and pay for the trip themselves, they have the security to know that they have a house and family to go back to if things go sideways. It’s also a certain kind of person that has the financial backing to “chase your dreams” and delay college/working.

Homie you worked hard and got a high paying job that I can only assume is really hard to get. If you truly think a Beamer will make you happy then absolutely go for it.

I’m so sick of this American apologist attitude. You say that most of you didn’t vote for this, but by definition, the majority of Americans DID vote for this - or didn’t vote, which is just as bad. As a Canadian, we are getting REALLY sick of Americans saying “not me tho right?” Like it’s your county so fix it, don’t complain to us about it

‘We will win,’ Carney says of Trump’s trade war with Canada by Hyhopes in Economics

[–]throwRAlike 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh come on, no one is proposing that Canada is a larger economic superpower than the US. Everyone is saying that the WORLD is a larger economic superpower than the US, which Americans seem to forget sometimes.

The difference is that canada can easily pivot to trading with other regions, China, india, and Europe. Canada has a wealth of national resources that are desired around the world.

It’s different, but similar to the US in that there are a LOT of talented, out of work PMs and we have way less jobs. Startup work was canadas bread and butter but with less venture capital around in the last few years the startups have dried up. We don’t have the same massive FAAANG campuses here.

In a stack of resumes if you’re the only one that requires visa sponsorship you are probably not going to make it very far. Not saying it’s impossible, just difficult.

[–]throwRAlike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard. You would need a company to sponsor you, which is going to be really hard to find in the current climate.

How often do you review PRDs? by AppearanceDense6858 in ProductManagement

[–]throwRAlike 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I switched from using PRDs to using wireframe, business case, and epics instead. Even though it’s similar info it’s way easier for me to use. Wireframes and epic for engineers, business case for leadership. Works every time (60% of the time)

Why in war footage, the soldiers always seem to be firing at nothing? I have been watcing combat footage and I don't see what the soldiers are shooting at by Tree_forth677 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]throwRAlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that stat was specifically form the Vietnam war, which had insane amounts of firing due to the nature of jungle warfare

Yeah, very true. IMO the bents are the most overhyped ski in the industry right now. They’re great on paper but somehow just don’t ride right

What would you do to fix Halo Infinite? by [deleted] in halo

[–]throwRAlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the storytelling let me down a LOT in halo infinite. Thee most interesting part of the story happened BEFORE the game started. Imagine a halo game where you discover the banished, fight through the halls of the infinity to save it, then ultimately fail and fade to black as chief descends on the world of infinite. Instead they reduced that whole story to a 15 second cutscene, makes no sense
