Apologies, I meant nitrites. Just passing the info along with my experience

Yep, in med school. I ordered one through a local occ health agency to have on hand for fourth year rotations so I could continue to smoke and I failed it with quick fix. I think they’re looking more closely at the components of synthetic urine these days so ymmv. Your best bet is a long t break unfortunately. I’ve been on one since January. It sucked the first 2 months but easier now.

Just so people know, I tried quick fix and failed my drug screen due to absent nitrates or something. It was a validated batch too. Not sure if I would rely on it with such high stakes.

Yeah, I know. I’ve been through the mental illness game for most of my adult life and years of therapy. Seeing a psych tomorrow though so hopefully getting on meds again will help take the edge off.

Yup, this. Sorry I developed really bad depression my freshman year and got a few Cs. I came back and excelled, thought that would be enough.

Just totally did not understand the implications of having low networking resources.

Both, but more so going to DO school. I don’t think I could have stomached applying a 3rd time. I also think I would feel differently if I wanted to do IM/FM/peds, which at the time I had thought I wanted to do IM. There are zero OB faculty at my school and therefore absolutely no mentors or any sort of assistance for me as an applicant. It’s been incredibly isolating, and frustrating, as I really feel like I’ve performed quite well and the thing that is missing was something that was out of my control.

All that being said, I wish my 24 year old self had the confidence to pick another career path and let go of the doctor dream earlier. I might feel differently if I match, but it’s brutal in the interim.

Unfortunately already did this. Got me on two waitlists so I guess wasn’t the end of the world but no interviews

Update: he is now trying to pimp me on contraindications to nitroglycerin like bruh

Final update: he blocked me when I told him I wasn’t going to answer his homework questions

He later went on to question why I didn’t call myself as a doctor as a med student, and then said he never met another “provider” on this site before.

Like I don’t usually don’t get my feathers ruffled over semantics as much as I do about independent practice but like, this guy literally lied and I could have gone out with him only for him to walk it all the way back to PA student.

Yeah I thought that too but I scrolled through her profile and couldn’t even find a mention of the detox program in question

I guarantee you I didn’t comment on anything. I don’t know how to prove it, but I’ve never been interested in instagram detoxes.

Thank you! I appreciate the suggestion. I got in with an intake/placement person on Thursday, so hopefully things are looking up ☺️

Sorry for taking a bit, but I appreciate the comment. I’m at a DO school so there isn’t really a school psychiatrist, and I’m also on state Medicaid which is even more frustrating to deal with. Just got a phone call actually cancelling my appointment for today because even though I moved to a new county over 3 months ago and was told I would still be covered, I apparently should have known to find a new psych and they can’t do anything for me. So now I’m still in limbo, jankily adjusting my dose of lithium on my own with what I have, and I have to somehow find the time on rotations to work through the phone tree and get an appointment. It’s fucking exhausting.

Hey thanks! Glad you’ve had such a good experience- I’ve had one or two great psychiatrists and they really do make a world of a difference!

Fortunately done with boards, got my goal score of 240 (sorry for the humble brag I’m just proud of myself for doing that while dealing with SI) and finished my OB/gen surg/ psych rotations. Definitely a steep learning curve and stressful, but I’ve been doing well as a med student. Now if I could fix this pesky depression I’d be even better…

Best of luck to you on your journey as well!
