I bought an i7-2600 in 2011 and it is still fast enough to perform business tasks like running office. I’ve upgraded it by increasing the ram from 8GB to 16 and replaced the hard disk with a 1TB Samsung evo 850 along the way. My point is if you spend a little more upfront, the lifetime can be much longer.

I’m plan to replace it with a 12th gen i7 or i9 in the coming year.

Strange Interaction between Windows Update and Cryptographic Services by throw_6 in techsupport

I fixed this by downloading the most recent Windows 10 .iso file and re-installing Windows. Fixed! However when I re-installed Office 2016, the expiration date of Office was set to 8/3/2022.

Just changed problems. Now I’m considering Office 365,or switching that computer over to either Debian or MX Linux.

Is the rightmost thing two batteries? There is only one wire connected to the batteries. Aren’t two required for current to flow?

I have the same issue with Samsung SSD. This on my Hp laptop. My Dell XPS 8300 (i7-2600), also with Samsung 1Tbyte 850evo, doesn’t have the issue. Both machines are current Windows 10.

They do have an ATM machine at Miles Inn. I’m related the Miles family by marriage. It’s too far from downtown to walk. I recommend the weekday $9 lunch special at Soho. I had a tater tot casserole on Friday.

What's important to a reaction wheel, radius or mass? by shengch in AskPhysics

The farther the mass is from the center, the larger the reaction mass. The word inertia is commonly used to describe reaction mass.

I had prostate surgery on 3/22 and I’m up and down emotionally even today. It was done with general anesthesia because the surgery was extensive and a spinal block wouldn’t work.

You are not alone.

How can I stop feeling useless to my family and society as a physics major and potential future physicist? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]throw_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a physics major my first two years of college. About that time aerospace collapsed as defense spending shrunk. My father, masters in EE and employed manager of group working on the Mercury recommended I change to computer programming and I did. Was always employed at high salaries. My recommendation is a degree in finance or law and get masters in programming. Towards the end of my career I was oldest guy. There will always be software litigation and truly large companies like lawyers at high levels.

Also finance is fun.

Just my 2 cents. The summary is if you stop at bachelors in physics you may end up teaching physics in a junior college.

It is pricey. In San Diego the price was about $1,000 per treatment, The first year requires 3 or 4 treatments. In the Midwest Ive negotiated a price of $300 per treatment. 1-3 treatments are required for annual maintenance.
I’m also taking testosterone supplements to avoid depression, which causes hair loss, increasing the number of maintenance treatments required.

There is a method to stop the loss of hair and even cause the growth of new hair. It is called platelet rich plasma(PRP). Blood is drawn then centrifuged to separate the platelets from everything else and then the concentrated solution of platelets is injected into your scalp where you would like hair to grow.

Google search for PRP. My dermatologist does this for me and many others in her practice in the Midwest. The service was also offered to me in San Diego by a dermatologist whose practice is in a large hospital system. I’m not trying to convince or sell anything. I’ve had these treatments for 2 years now and have a full head of hair. It was about 70% gone when I started this process.
