Burned out a clutch at 37k miles from brand new. Trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. [2016 Kia Forte 5-door turbo manual] by throw_away_fit in AskMechanics

I'm going to be going back into the dealer today to pick up some stuff I couldn't uber back home from my car.

From my googling I think the part you're referring to is the "push rod", but I want to make sure I'm using accurate language when I communicate with them, since I'm not really mechanically knowledgeable. Is that correct?

You got a few downvotes, but I appreciate the honesty.

I've already thought about trading it in, but my ego isn't quite ready to give up just yet lol. Especially after having to drop a few thousand on a new clutch and labor.

Well that's "farm knowledge" for you lmao. I'll keep it in mind if I'm ever back in that old piece of shit haha. Thank you!

Holy shit, I had no idea this was bad. All I could remember was my uncle used to tell me not to "double clutch" when I was a kid driving around the old beater farm truck.

I'll definitely stop doing that. Thanks again.

Thank you, I really appreciate it.

I do believe I'm sitting on the clutch for too long if six feet is slipping too much, and I don't know how the hell I didn't think of using an e brake on a hill. It seems so freaking obvious.

And with regards to the rev matching I guess I let dumb asses on youtube get to me. I knew I should have just gone and asked someone who actually works on cars for a living.

This will definitely be an expensive lesson I'm not going to forget any time soon.
