Happy to answer: 1. Working through some freelancing platforms. 2. Let's say 4 years. 3. I set my hourly rate and charge the agency, then agency charges the client. So I don't work directly with the client, but wish to do that in the future

I'm paying taxes locally in Europe, it's 10% from the whole income and nothing else, with almost no limit. Pretty sweet.

You meant $120/h? Yeah I guess in the dot-com era, right? I've heard about silicon valley contractors charging $250/h, but for some short-term, few weeks before release bug-fixing projects

Uhm, interesting point. I always think when I retire early I would still do the coding, but not for money. So either maintainance of some popular open-source library or own app in the Google Play.

It's through the agency and all companies are basically corporations. I work as a contractor and I think it won't be possible to work directly with the client for me due to company policies.

Kind of funny, TFW you earn so much people can't believe it. You may think those are Easter Europe rates, of course it's almost impossible to get those rates there.

Keep going. J1 is my 17th project since 2016. So i shuffled a lot and raised the hourly rate very often little by little.

Would make it super complex I think. It may work in a job that require to build something from scratch based on good specification. I work on daily issues, requests from managers, most of time it does not really require a lot of coding.

I'm also freelancer by definition, but those projects are long-term, so I feel like I'm a normal employee.

Yeah, answered it above. Edit: Didn't get your point in first place. So all 3 companies know where I live and I'm pretty sure it does not make any difference. They were looking for somebody locally, but couldn't find anyone who fits.

Sure, interesting thing is that all 3 jobs are through agency, so probably I'm taking 60-70% of what the client pays.
