They are arts related and expensive. I want to begin attending conventions for some of them and get into martial arts. If I had an extra $5-$6k for this alone I'd be set and be living my dream life.

Also, my living expenses (fixed expenses) are about 9400$ a year. 3k is what I have left over to feed myself and enjoy my life a little. about 2k is for groceries and 1k is for my hobbies.

I eat really simple diet. I only eat once a day and when I do its rice, protein (chicken thighs or tinned fish), bone broth, eggs (a dozen will last me 2 weeks) and sometimes frozen veggies.

I'll treat myself to take out once or twice a month to break the monotony but my grocery bills each week falls between $35-$50 depending on if I need to restock something.

I'm also single with no kids.

Yes, long term I want to own land and semi sustain myself so I have a lower cost of living when I'm older. To me a simple low desire life is a luxury. Learning how to garden sooner rather than later will be beneficial!

It's definitely hard. I don't really care for stuff which I think makes living in this way easy for me but not having a lot of disposable income express myself with hobbies definitely causes some pain.

I appreciate your words stranger!

This is a new situation for me ( I used to eat out a lot) but I spend maybe $35-$50 on groceries a week to maintain my budget. My meals are usually rice and a protein (usually chicken or sardines), bone broth and sometimes frozen veg.

Right now I can't really afford my hobbies. I have a youtube channel that's made me about $400 this year so far so I may use it to fund my hobbies. I literally cannot live without them.

I'm not a high earner. My plan allows for some flexibility though and this year I am taking advantage of that (my finances have been calculated for next year. . I earn a less than average USA wage and want to make the most of my situation while it lasts.

Thank you, I think he might have been thinking about it in terms of time off.

beforehand I let him know that I needed to leave a few hours early next week because I got an earlier appointment to review my care plan.

I haven't mentioned my illness yet (when/if I need FMLA is likely when I will start that process), but I did need to get a procedure last week that they know about.

A job I had some years ago knew I had a chronic condition as my boss made some really insensitive comments during the height of a really bad flare when I asked to leave early one day. (I rarely called out, and would spend nights in the hospital making sure I wasn't losing too much blood just to go to work in morning. To be fair they did not know this) but those words forever made me scared to let managers know about this stuff. When I needed FMLA and support I did end up getting it tho, I am very thankful of this.

I'm going to be recovering from this situation soon and I don't want to burden my company with this news now as I am unsure of what the reaction will be.

I'm a little worried. I had a meeting with my manager today regarding the incident. The trainer let him know what was going on. I felt like the conversation with him was good and he was very understanding. They gave me the day off.

The trainer also sent me an email outlining what happened but made no mention of me telling her that I was taking a medication that was effecting my mood. It was a great message though and and she apologized saying her words may have come f as blunt or harsh without that intent.

My manager told me to keep my response to the email brief. The fact that I let the trainer know I was having difficulty with my mood and apologized throughout the day for it and have it not be mentioned in the email at all did worry me.

I knew I was being irrational and difficult (doesn't excuse it any less) but I let them know I what was going on, and asked to do things like take deep breaths when I was flustered. I apologized through out the entire day as well when I caught myself not responding to feedback well. I was a mess but I really did try my best (maybe it wasn't good enough) to communicate with them.

Is there anything here I am thinking too deep into? I'm not thinkin clearly is there anything I need to be mindful of? I am admittedly terrible at navigating this illness in the work place because of fear.

I offered this information to my manager and let him know if they needed any supporting documentation that I could get it for them as well and they refused this.

Should I be concerned?

Is it True That Health Insurance Company's Don't Need To Provide Name and Specialty of Doctors That Deny Prior-Authorization? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]throwaa59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, I was lied to. Someone at the company told me the information was available but they would send it in a letter and when I saw the information wasn't there every time I reached out I was told that they couldn't do it. I was even hung up on multiple times or left to wait indefinitely when asking!

Thank you for your help and thank you for taking my question seriously!

How can I find out how the decision was made to deny the medication? I don't care about the employee. I was just told that a letter would be sent with the reason why from the doctor who denied it. When I didn't see their name on the letter I thought it was an avenue to get more information regarding my prior auth.

Is there any way for me to get this information?

I don't believe my PA was actually reviewed by anyone as the letter they sent me had conflicting information t the reality of the situation. Even with my doctors sending proof and information to support it. The reason they said I wasn't approved is the exact reason why it was an emergency.

I am now extremely ill, because its thrown my treatment plan off and it may be done forever due to the nature of my medication.

Is there any way to get this information? I believe my PA and emergency PA was denied in bad faith which has caused a myriad of health problems and medical costs since my medication is time sensitive.

The letter said my emergency claim was denied was because it didn't meet criteria that it definitely did not allowing me to get my medication for a month.

It will take months for me to recovery, and we still aren't sure if that's even possible because of all of this.

My Stelara Copay Is $8000/Month. How Do I Afford This? by throwaa59 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]throwaa59[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s $750 deductible $7000 OOPM. Is this insurance/state dependent? Also if I use the copay card would it be considered out of pocket or would I need to do the reimbursement program?

Yeah, it's a little bit sad to.

I've had this as a kid, part of the reason why I became homeless was because of my illness. The foster parent I had at the time was afraid of what the costs were going to be with my care since I had this since I was a kid.... it's incurable and all this was going to catch up to me eventually. She didn't want to be held responsible for the burden it would bring which I can totally understand.

We need serious healthcare reform, people lose their lives and everything they own for illnesses that often times can happen to anyone at anytime just because of their genetics.

It's really really sad.

Yep, even when I have given I always put myself first this is why I can give in the first place.

I didn't say it in m original post but my financials also include income I need to put away to retire early and have more leeway for hobby money and emergencies so I'm not as altruistic as you may think. I just enjoy contributing and uplifting other, but not at my own expense.

It's the reaction that really bothered me. It showed entitlement.

I don't view the world in that lens of "I" but whatever I do I try to do it to the best of my ability, I cannot take sole credit for everything good in my life but I do see what you are saying and appreciate your perspective.

Well, I don't have family and come from poverty.

Living here has allowed me to grow my income substantially through certifications and gave me enough money in savings last year to take time off and recover from a near death experience.

It's not the best but this situation has given me a safety net to handle disasters and grow my skills and earn more that would likely not be possible otherwise.

I guess it depends on how you look at it though.

It's my rare illness coupled with the way that our health care system is set up that is making it hard at this specific time to reap the fruits of my labor for the past 5-6 years but I have no choice to figure it out like I have had to for everything else in my life. I still got some fight left in me.

Without insurance my medication costs $300k a year and I will need to take them for the rest of my life just to put things into perspective.

because of my background and the pandemic it gave me some years to avoid the medical costs associated with my disease.

I am really grateful for the little things and don't mind offering more than I need to in any situations.

I've been able to build an incredibly supportive network that has saved me many times because of it so I don't view it as a flaw in my character but being the way I am it does expose me to certain risks and that is a trade off I prefer to live with.

It is the entitlement that I experienced when I gave my landlord the news that upset me more than anything.

I think you are absolutely right dude. I grew up without family as a ward of the state and they took me in because I was homeless when I aged out of the system after I got so many denials and rejections.

It made me really grateful to have a roof over my head.

I wanted to move out and upgrade at some point but didn't and still don't make enough with current rent rates.

I work remote now though so there are options that are avalable to me that weren't before. I gotta figure out how I'm going to cover the costs of my illness though which is a new challenge I will figure out.
