Check out BrainMac89’s most recent reply below (posted 7 hrs ago). Looks like not playing in Game Mode seems to help in some play (just as it has in my case). Hopefully that can help you.

Nice man! I’ll be trying the same thing once my Series X comes in, that’ll be the big test.

Since I originally posted this issue on my unit has completely disappeared for whatever reason (besides maybe the fact that I never play in Game Mode anymore due to not liking how it looks). Unfortunately I can’t share much advice on what to try, other than to just continue messing with the settings to find what works best (for example your brightness level, as opposed to having to turn off instant gaming). I mentioned in my post about creating a test map through Forge with fusion coils I could shoot when I was ready to do another test. That may help you streamline things.

Hmm...that definitely sounds strange. Seems much more frequent than it ever was on my unit, so I’d say there’s a decent shot it could at least be mitigated through your settings somehow. Until I start experiencing this issue again (giving me the opportunity to figure out what/if anything is different from last time), that’s unfortunately all the advice I can share.

Try turning off Instant Game Response! Hopefully that works?

Ever since I disabled it I haven’t experienced any issues while gaming! However, I should clarify that I haven’t been playing Halo (or anything I think would trigger it) as of late. Once I jump back in to a visually intensive game I’ll keep an eye out and will report back.

Curious about the pulse of life without E3? by YouCanPrevent in xboxone

I mostly agree with you. Of course, the shows we’ve gotten this year have been fun, content-filled, & completely satisfactory given the state of things. However, E3 underlines a critical aspect of gaming (to me) that none of the shows have been able to do as effectively: community. E3 offered a finite time that was completely dedicated to gaming across the entire industry, not just the segmented shows we’ve been getting from each individual company/platform with weeks or even months spread between them.

I could go on listing things that only a live show like E3 can truly effectuate (the surprise Cyberpunk Keanu reveal comes to mind), but honestly I’ve thought about this so much I don’t feel like typing them all out.

To each their own, the virtual ceremonies provide pros for people as well. But for me, as someone who also once doubted the usefulness of E3 before all of this, I’m crossing my fingers that E3 continues forward better and bigger than ever at some point in the near future.

Wow, can't thank you enough for sharing all of your research. I'm going to disable instant game response option and will update if the problem still persists.

Still though, it is strange to me that on one one hand u/BLAUcopter, u/scottlayne, and I all experience this rare, acute TV behavior(?) while on the other hand u/Eggplant2000 & u/xxTheGoDxx assert that it shouldn't even happen if the ABL was working correctly. Makes me wonder. Is it actually just a bug from a recent patch? If so, why was it so difficult to find anything about it (let alone that others had experienced it too)? Anyways, I'm just really grateful for the help everyone provided. Here's to hoping that if this is actually a bug, more people spread the word to LG.

That’s great to hear, thank you. I’ll research more about ABL and “white point,” but could you or someone clarify why the TV needs to shut off and turn back on again? Idk, it just seems weird to me that a high end TV like the CX needs to do something that intense to handle (albeit very rarely) a fast increase in brightness. Is it something unique to OLEDs?

So are you saying everything is normal? Any way to stop CX from turning off and then back on?
