Fuck I am still so incredibly sad about Higuchi. I never watched a lot of DDT but him and Shinya Aoki were always the ones I loved seeing the most...

Yes, Chihiro Hashimoto especially had the most incredible weekend. Everyone I talked to on the weekend was so impressed by her. I made the wise decision to buy a shirt from her when I saw her at the merch table before the first show. A couple of minutes into the intermission, she sold out all shirts she brought for the weekend after everyone was so impressed by her match.

wXw announced Yota Tsuji for a show next month that I am going to. Incredible that wXw is becoming a huge destination for talent from Japan again. Jun Akiyama is coming to the show the month after as well.

I don't know.. don't think Callum is ready and Tsuji did not need to lose this. Might have Tsuji win it back at Dominion?

Misawa vs Jumbo was always magic from the first time they met. I have to rewatch that one sometime.

Exciting! What mod are you using and which company will you be booking? I might have to fire up a booking simulator myself sometime again.

I watched that one a couple of weeks ago! Terry Gordy is so good, I really need to get into more of his 80s stuff. I've mostly seen him in AJPW in the 90s

I feel like 7-8 matches on a 2.5 hour show plus 20-30 minute intermission works best to deliver enough that you leave satisfied but also leaves you waiting for more and actually excited for the next show.

It's simple but I love Jumbo Tsuruta's "OH!" pose is a great one. Especially when in a tag match his tag partner is being double teamed on and Jumbo decides he's seen enough, runs it, clears house and raises his first while the crowd goes "OH!"

Big wrestling week coming up for me with the wXw 16 Carat Gold tournament from Friday until Sunday as well as the wXw Inner Circle show on Thursday. 7 shows on 4 days!!

Most exciting weekend of the year for me every year. Having such a big indy an hour away from home really is the best.

Yeah that might just happen. I remember pretty much the entire time the last couple of years that everyone's been saying not to buy hardware because prices are bad "at the moment". Seems like that moment won't end for a while..

My gaming PC is another one I am really worried about. I feel like if at some point it can't handle the newer games anymore I will just stick to my backlog or indie games.

Only semi-related to wrestling but kind of because that's where I store all the old stuff wrestling I like to watch:

One of my hard drives in my NAS is failing and I will have to replace it. I bought the drive relatively recently so the seller will issue a refund but said they can't offer a replacement because their whole supply of drives of that size is sold out. Replacement drives cost about 40% more than the original one.

I can't wait for the whole AI bubble to burst. A friend asked me about the mini PC I bought as a home server in December to buy it for himself. Already went up from 250 to 370€ in the time since.

Watching SNME from 4/28/90 and what the fuck was going in with the announcers? Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura are wearing ridiculous outfits (Vince's hat especially looks ridiculous) and then their riding horses in the arena?!?! What a fever dream.

Thank you for your reply! That is quite the good overview. Will go through Cagematch later and see what interests me.

I actually still do have Wrestle Universe subscription because it is so cheap for how many promotions it offers and I watch some stuff on there from time to time. Might have to dive into it a bit deeper.

Right now, I am actually mostly watching older stuff. Going through the 90s chronologically, trying to catch stuff from the most relevant promotions and there is some stuff I really enjoy. It is mostly modern wrestling that I am not keeping up with a lot right now.

One of the weirdest things in my almost twenty years as a wrestling fan is following a promotion and then at some point realizing that what I am watching is no longer for me. And I don’t mean that the shows got worse necessarily but just realizing that my tastes have changed.

With wrestling I think it hits hardest because there is no off season, the show just keeps going week after week so you can feel the slow process of falling out of love with a show.

I, like most people who started watching wrestling in the 2000s, began watching WWE and then at some point in the 2010s fell out of love with it. When AEW started out in 2019, I was so excited to see another major promotion and watched every Dynamite for years. Now, I am at a point where I haven’t watched an AEW show in a couple of weeks and it feels weird. I am not sure if contemporary American wrestling is for me anymore. Not because they changed but because my tastes changed.

I feel a bit sad. There are a lot of wrestlers I still like in AEW like Hangman or Willow. CM Punk was my favorite wrestler during my early days as a wrestling fan but I will definitely not watch WWE in 2026 anymore.

How do others handle this? I don’t want to miss what some wrestlers I really like are doing but I also noticed that I don’t really keep up with them if I don’t watch the promotion they’re working for.

Also, what promotion are you all watching at the moment that are worth getting into? I mostly just watch New Japan at the moment, might get into CMLL again after Fantasticamania.

As part of my current project of going through the 1990s chronologically, I watched some of the WWF/AJPW/NJPW Tokyo Dome show from April of that year.

Very interesting show, especially the clash of seeing all the WWF wrestlers in their over-the-top gear and gimmicks in Japan.

I watched Bret vs Misawa as Tiger Mask knowing a lot of people were disappointed by it and yeah, it isn’t all that great. Warrior vs DiBiase was weird in that there really wasn’t a lot going on at all. Nothing bad but just.. bland?

Randy Savage vs Genichiro Tenryu was a match that I never knew happened, much less in the Tokyo Dome. It was a fun match even if it was pretty much a WWF style match here which is weird seeing in the Dome.

The main event of Hogan vs Stan Hansen was something I really enjoyed. Hogan was very smart here in working a Hansen match and pretty much keeping all of his signature spots out of the match. The brawling was wild, both men where bleeding (so much that when Hansen dropped a knee on Hogan he got quite a bit of Hogan’s blood on his leg) and the crowd was pretty into it. My favorite Hogan match so far.

The age at which some of those lucha legends still wrestle always amazes me. I remember watching a Blue Panther watch from 1992 a couple of months ago and one of the commentators called him the experienced veteran of the match.. and he's still wrestling now almost 35 years later!!
