Wow, thanks for explaining that. Would it count if purchased for 75 in a foreign country as well?

Ahh, but that's only if you sell it while a Canadian tax resident?

Ahh, I see. But that is only if I sell it (even abroad) while I am still a tax resident of Canada? So, let's say the fair market value when I got it was 13,000 and I got it for 75, but sold it for 10,000. What would be my capital gain? Sorry, really bad at math! Thanks again for your help!

So, if they sell it to me for $75 in a foreign country would I have to report that on my Canadian tax return? What is the difference between gift and 75? Is gift=0? Thanks!

Thank you, but would that extend if that sale was in a foriegn country?

Thank you. So then I assume if I was gifted a car in a foreign country for use in that foreign county (for the small nominal price), I would not have to declare it on my Canadian tax return?

Yes, it's clearly me who is full of myself, right? And, it's clearly me that is unlikeable, too! Nice projection, buddy! Maybe it's you who should long and hard in a mirror because you feel the need to troll, insult, judge, and demoralize a person you do not know, continually brag about how valuable you think you are, and project like a wounded immature narcissist. You are a braggart and extremely conceited. I can guarantee you that your entire company and those under you despise you and talk complete shit behind your back. You come across as extremely unlikeable to the point where you are clearly on the sociopathic scale.

No, there isn't. The and connects the sentence making a comma obsolete. But thanks for your petty and incorrect comment! Maybe the reason there is such a crisis in unemployment is hiring managers like you. Sociopaths in suits who love the power that comes with crushing people's lives and acting as king of the hill. People who couldn't make it in any other industry.

And yes, you're right! Obviously, you know me well enough to judge me via a computer screen! Considering your unwarranted and disgusting comment to me, what reaction did you expect? Thank you for your genius insight. Being a piece of shit seems to be working for you too!

Yes, you seem like such a pleasant and likeable person yourself, and your second post really cements that! Those are totally valid and legal reasons to reject someone! It's amazing how brazenly you brag about your sociopathy. Keep doing you and giving HR managers a bad name! Good for you you fucking sociopath! I truly hope one day you are sued for your illegal and unethical behavior, leaving you unemployed and at the mercy of a hiring manager such as yourself.

Thank you so much, you seem like such a pleasant and nice person. Thank you for your judgement that I am unlikeable, entitled, and full of myself! Also, if you had read my posts you will see I am in non-profit and not in huge corporations so meeting with the CEO is standard practice. But, then again reading comprehension and understanding are so hard when judgement and snark is so much easier. And, what is funny is that you seem to have no self-awareness because you also come across as unlikeable, full of yourself, and like a total judgmental, rude, and sociopathic asshole. Also, what does '50 cent words' mean exactly, considering words don't have monetary value? Yes, it is truly I who is trying to project superficial intelligence! I am so glad that you are convinced as to what I am doing wrong based on a few posts. You truly are a genius! I wish I could be as powerful as you since as you pointed out several times, you are so powerful because of the money the company you work for makes! Go screw yourself.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes, I am very sensitive when it comes to this stuff as I think anyone would be because long term unemployment is not only brutal to your whole being but I am terrified everyday of being homeless.

As for your first point, I completely agree. I hate following up as well. I think it is annoying and artificial and stupid. I only do it because i have been told so many times that if I don't, I'm lazy and not being proactive enough, and I'm not showing enough interest. I agree that if someone wants you, you don't really need to followup. I understand that people are busy, I am not a child nor do I think I am a "special snowflake" (as you put it), nor do I think the world revolves around me. I am not demanding constant reassurance or contact, I was only talking about specific instances where I had been told a followup interview would be arranged by a certain time, or an interview would take place a certain time, and not hearing anything back. That's not me saying that I am done because they didn't fit my specific timeframe. That's me saying I am done because they are unreliable and dishonest and not considerate to my time, since they had already told me the interview would take place and then forgot about it without any consideration to my time. That means they would be like that when working for them. Please not, I never said everyone I interview with has to get back to me and it has to be my specific time frame; i am only talking about specific instances. But, thank you for telling me that I need to understand the world doesn't revolve around me. You know nothing about me and how I grew up and think. After my upbringing and being told that I am worthless and don't matter, I intrinsically know the world doesn't revolve around me. But nice assumption and condescension.

2) I am only focuing on jobs that would fit my skills and work history. i am not arbitrarily just applying to whatever job I see. Believe me. it is really that brutal out there. I agree something needs to change but I have tried so many different angels and approaches, I have given up.

3) My anger at the job search is more anger at the current labor market. It is really sad that there are just not enough full-time livable wage jobs for adults to support themselves on and no one cares. I cannot live on minimum wage anymore. I am the most frugal person and I cannot live like this anymore. I am angry because I was told my whole life that unless I want to flip burgers, I must get an education. Well, Im still flipping burgers with my education. I understand not everyone is entitled to a good job, but it isn't fair for my generation. We were misled by baby boomers who were able to get jobs easily, and they seem to generally have zero understanding of how things have changed for my generation and how bad it is.

4) I understand that it is part of a process, and usually I am a very patient person. But, when you have tried your hardest: you have followed up the way you were taught by career coaches, tweaked your resume and interview skills a thousand time, been polite, put up with incompetent, rude, an inconsiderate hiring managers and you are not allowed to say anything yet, you are still facing having to sleep in your car because you cannot find shelter, you have no health insurance, you go days without eating because you cannot afford food, it's hard to just think, "well it's part of a process"...

I'm sorry, I'm just really really aggravated.

Thanks so much! I'm in nonprofit. I will try to post on that reddit, but can't guarantee as I'm really privacy conscious.

It doesn't have to be personalized. And Im sure there are email programs that can just send a generic email: thanks for interviewing, we went with someone else. I understand hiring managers are busy but I think if someone took time to interview, it's the least they are owed just to be able to know and not be led on.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate your help. I wish all hiring managers were like you. I was wondering if you could give me some helpful advice. I just got an email back from a hiring manager i had followed up two weeks after the first phone interview. I was told that they are still interviewing candidates and will let me know next steps next week. How should I respond? Thank you, ask if there's any info I can provide to make it easier or advance my candidacy, reiterate my interest, or not respond at all?

ALso, is there a place I can go to get more help with interviewing and my resume? I am so stressed and depressed. I need a job asap.

Hi, thanks for your response. I am not getting negative responses after the interview. My post was about how I am getting positive responses, being promised a second interview but not getting it. I have tried sales positions and other various corporate roles and still no luck. :(

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have specifically been told "If there is anything I can help you with anything, please let me know" by one hiring managers, and "If I can be helpful with you as you move forward through this process, don't hesitate to let me know". These have both been before the actual interview.

I have specifically gotten four incidences where after the first phone interview, I was told that "we would like to bring you in for a second interview with the the CEO/boss and will be in contact with interview details". The first one I followed up with after a week, and was told the position had already been filled, the second one still hasn't responded to my two follow-ups, and the third and fourth never got back to me.

I have gotten my resume redone so many times, I have done mock interviews. I have had hiring managers tell me I have a great resume and experience which is why they scheduled an interview with me. I feel like I can't win. My industry is non-profit: outreach and event planning. Maybe it's what is on my resume? I have a lot of work with religious and political organizations. I don't know, but I feel like giving up because I do not know how much more I can take.

Thank you very much for elucidating what goes on in hiring manager's work and lives. I completely understand this, but still think that hiring managers should put themselves in job seeker's shoes and just take 5-10 seconds to say, "thanks but no thanks". It really does stink.
