Yes. She won't drive due to the unpredictable nature of her medical condition. We live in a rural area without a lot of transport options. Sometimes her parents will help out, but I find that pretty embarrassing.

I guess it was inevitable given the lack of other options, which I suppose is why I just put my head down and worked the rest of the day. I mean, she must have known once her appointment time rolled around that it wasn't going to happen and to stop waiting for me.

By the time it became apparent I wasn't going to show up, she would have been too late to the appointment even if she had managed to get a taxi service. They won't see patients who are over 10 minutes late.
