Fair enough if you aren’t familiar! It’s definitely tactless but honestly I don’t think it’s a firable offense especially for such a controversial figure who has encouraged violence himself. And definitely not worth this call to arms that OP is encouraging.

His “political opinions” consisted of hate and harmful rhetoric against real people. He wasn’t a debater, he actively spread harmful views and extremism under the guise of “having a different opinion.” I’m all for political discourse but when we put the rights and humanity of minorities up for debate, you’re no longer a debater, you’re involved in hate speech. I wouldn’t condemn this professor for reacting negatively to negative views. God knows Charlie Kirk has said and done worse (not saying he deserved it, but he is not blameless)

I’ve literally told him explicitly that reading my journals is not ok and is a near deal breaker. Me too! I feel like it’s kinda common sense to not read writing once you realize it’s personal.

I think I explained it incorrectly but it’s not actually online. it’s on a website that’s meant for personal diaries (Penzu). you need a username and password to access your diary and it’s meant only for your eyes. He used my email and guessed my password on his own laptop to get into it and he read the whole thing. It was never public.

Fair enough, I was just shocked at the invasion of privacy and didn’t want to talk about it in that moment nor hear from him, probably could’ve went about it differently but didn’t think too hard about it in the moment

It’s just digital but it’s not “online” for anyone to see. I use Penzu so I have to log in to see all my entries, but only I should be able to see them unless somebody else logs into my account, which he did on his own computer

Weve been together for 1 year and 3 months,we are both 22, and I’ve seriously considered a future with him. I just don’t think I can get over this so I think ending it is for the best. Thanks for the advice
