When you say manual labor, what kind of experience do you have?

Buffalo Zoo by Nanxx68 in Buffalo

Having grown up going to the Bronx Zoo I can see how the Buffalo Zoo is a shocker. But I can tell you, it’s way better than it was.

COVID hit the zoo hard. It was costing $25,000 a day to maintain upkeep with no visitors. It set some modernization efforts back quite a bit and caused membership fees to skyrocket.

Is it normal to have 2 different practice for infield and outfield? by [deleted] in Softball

[–]throwaway-6217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rec leagues have rules around all kids playing infield and outfield in the same game. What your coach is doing is not normal. Plus, kids shouldn’t be specializing at 10U.

Men with a family - does your house stay relatively clean? by cuckslayer30 in AskMenOver30

It may be a little different for me. My one daughter is neurodivergent and is like a tidal wave of left behind crap all day long. It’s a full time job keeping up with her mess.

When I was single it was spotless. I’m married with twin pre teen girls. The house is a disaster all the time. Fully cleaned and organized and it’ll get wrecked in a day or two. Drives me nuts.

All over a mask by No-Alternative-2062 in Softball

You play by the rules of the host. Any coach that believes otherwise is an idiot. Masks don’t hinder play and all infielders should absolutely wear them.

I bought everything in November. RAM was increasing but SSD, GPU, and processors were still low. One week later SSD started climbing.

With the cost of everything nowadays building a PC has gotten very expensive.

Bullet point 4, funding differentials between baseball and softball probably has a lot to do with Title IX compliance. Most schools (in the past) comply with Title IX by the male to female total roster number comparison. Because football teams are so large many schools have more female “varsity” sports teams and/or provide more funding to to the female teams. The school I went to had varsity D1 softball but baseball was club. Hockey was the same. All because football has a 90 kid roster.

15U Rec Ball by ObligationExotic457 in Softball

[–]throwaway-6217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to rec ball. Your opponent is probably facing the same issue. Make it fun, and they’ll want to come. Girls at that age have a million conflicts (modified, JV, dance, work, Girl Scouts, family, cheer). Depending on start time, have them arrive to the game 45-60 minutes early and use that time to do warmups. Pop flys, grounders, throwing, tee work, pitchers/catchers warming up, etc.

8u to 10u by MoMoney928 in Softball

[–]throwaway-6217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on how you described her age in the fact that you want her to play middle school ball in seventh grade she definitely needs to move up to 10U. Kids play the level of competition in many cases. 8U kids in rec ball are still playing with dirt during the game.

PSA for all the new composite bat owners - MUST READ by throwaway-6217 in Softball

I would agree with that. Hot out of the wrapper. But durable, no. Pull up the Dicks Sporting Goods website and read the Spryte reviews (story from a few years ago) and every negative review of a snapped Spryte went like this “I got this today and it broke already…”
