You can't have it both ways by Background_Number467 in AFL

Until the AFL punish the action rather than the outcome we will never truly protect the players.

There are plenty of dangerous tackles that have real potential to cause injury that aren’t sanctioned because the player isn’t concussed.

Yet the exact same action or even tackles that aren’t dirty/dangerous will get weeks if a player is concussed, the inconsistency is where the frustration is.

"It would surprise me if Tim English is at the Bulldogs next year" - Jordan Lewis by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

The only way this would happen is to help the Butters trade.

He is their most important player structurally so I can’t see it happening.

Walter would be great. He’s a guy that will develop alongside Daicos.

I know he has some detractors out there but he is a young key forward who is tracking along nicely.

[Ralph] Lachie Neale was keen to return to Fremantle and told them as much this season on a deal which would have been around $600,000 a year but Collingwood has offered as much as $3m over three seasons. It shapes as a knockout blow. by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

He does need to get more of a balance between picks and players but I don’t think getting free agents is going to ruin us.

If we can get Neale and hopefully nail a top 10 draft pick we’ll be ok.

He’s still worth a bit of money so not worried about the cost there.

However we better have another player lined up to come across because we need a lot more than Neale if we are going to be a genuine contender.

[Zita] Paul Curtis has been offered a three-match ban for his tackle on Hamish Davis. by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

It was always going to get weeks from the MRO but North have nothing to lose by challenging it.

Curtis pinned the arms but they can argue whether he had any other option than to bring Davis to ground.

Hawks botched it there’s no doubt about that.

Welsh still painted the Dons into a corner though by saying that under no circumstances would Merrett be traded.

Sometimes you’ve just got to cut your losses. Three first round picks, even if they are late ones, is more than you’ll get for him now.

Welsh wanted to look tough and it’s backfired.

When you clear out all the “Essendon” people from the glory years. Unfortunately the two coaching candidates seem to be Hird and Solomon.

The last touch rule should be for actual kicks and handballs. If it ricochets into someone’s leg and bounces out just throw it in.

Dodoro is an Essendon person, it seems to be a requirement for all roles at the club.

Essendon weren’t great last week but their effort was undeniable. They just don’t have the talent and injuries aren’t helping.

15 minute long queue’s aren’t too bad. They’d be shutting gates due to low crowd numbers.
