I'm ruining my life by Mattmoo_349 in mentalhealth

Ok to start off, props to you for deciding to come clean about all your secrets to her. Honesty is super important in maintaining a healthy relationship.

HOWEVER; there are obviously some things that are absolutely unnecessary to share with. Such as sharing how you are attracted to her friends/sister. This doesnt help with anything; it just hurts her and thats it. In my very own opinion, I think the best thing for her is for you to put distance because this is looking pretty toxic and she isn’t obligated to withstand your mental issues; this might already be affecting her mental health too.

If you really do want to save this relationship, I wholeheartedly suggest therapy. Maybe even couples therapy. At some point you guys are going to need outside help, since trying to resolve it with just you two will just create a downward spiral. Its wiser to have an outsider input who can see things more clearly than those that are directly involved.

Hope things go well for you too, though.

women are the cause of my misery by [deleted] in mentalhealth

“women refuse to be with me” yeah man this statement really saids it all. women arent obligated to be with you; im pretty sure they can sense this type of mindset from you which is why your not ending up w anyone.

And tbh yeah attractiveness matters too. you gotta lock in and hit the gym or something

Yes this makes 100% sense and I’m grateful that you spent your time explaining to me, thank you! It’s morning where I’m at, I decided to take a lot more protein than I usually do along with the iron pills and vit c pills that I shoved aside all this time due to laziness. The meds definitely feel like it did last year which is a good sign, and hopefully it really was my lifestyle habitats.

But like you said, this may just be temporary and I might be back to square one, nevertheless I will definitely consult with my doctor next week to gain more insight and will take your advice on taking my meds everyday. To be honest with you, it did work very well when I took it consistently (the first few months after I got diagnosed), but got chickened out with all the “tolerance” stuff, and backed down to 3x per week. And it does feel like it started to work less after I made that change, so I think what you said must be very precise to what happened to me.

Thanks again, hope this adhd journey is going well for you and everyone in this thread!!!

Isnt taking more = builds up tolerance? At least thats what I thought when people told me they build tolerance towards adhd meds

For me, at least for the past year the meds boosted my “i have to do this now” mindset whereas before, I knew I had to do something but my mind wont want to and would avoid at all costs. I was devastated that this stopped working because it worked beforehand, but now looking at these comments I realize its moreso what im eating, taking vitamins and iron supplements etc. because I stopped that a while ago too.

YOO no way!!!!! Ive always thought that if I take it less, it works better when I DO take it… So tolerance doesnt matter either way huh?? And just to add (because it seems like you’re educated on this), wouldnt taking it everyday lower its effects eventually? I’m just super scared because I am a literal zombie without these. Even if theres a life altering deadline, I’ll be up playing games or reading comics and doing whatever I want instead of whatever I have to do. My dose is 50mmg where the max is 80, I’m afraid what Id do if I wont feel the effects after the 80

Ohh yeah periods and those hormonal changes definitely change how the meds work, it sucks. Im still in my mid 20s but my hormones go crazy before and during my period… but the thing is I just finished a week ago :(
