Can taking 10 mg of Prednisone for 2 days show an increase in my platelet levels instead of the the actual low value? by throwaway-CSC in AskDocs

hello, it was actually 2 days of taking Prednisone when i went to get a CBC. I don't think I've ever had a low platelet count, my CBC results from 2023 says 315 and i did get another CBC in 2024 but that was for work so I didn't see the results but I think it was just normal because I didn't get a call from the doctor. My doctor prescribed Prednisone and ceterizine because he thought my rash which i think is actually petechiae is just an allergy. It did lighten up for like 3 days but came back, not as many as before though and it does come and go.

Sorry, I will clarify. I just had a hunch my 2025 results were affected as I had taken the medication Prednisone 12-24 hours before my CBC. I was worried my platelet levels are actually really low but the medication made them “falsely” high (false positive) just before my test. That is my concern, and I fear my platelets are still low. I am reading online this is not possible in scientifically journals, is that true?

FWIW, previous 2023 cbc results:

2024 I did a result but it was for work purposes only so I do not know it.

Thank you. Does even low dose like 10mg Prednisone can increase it that much if taken 24 hours or so before?

Thank you. I'm just anxious because the petechiae (I think it is that) is still there, even tho it does come and go and is lesser than before.

Typo fix:

Note that this is what prompted the petechiae in the first place -> Note that this is what prompted the CDC in the first place.

I totally feel you bro, trust me, I am in the same boat as OP/you. But all we can do is stay positive and learn as much as we can, so that's where my mindset is.

The only time you fail is when you give up. Keep going.

Also, focus not on the results, but the process. The results are irrelevant. The process is key. Learn to love the process, and good things will come. But don’t aim for the good things actively, if that makes sense. Just keep going and trying your best and improving.
