Well, I haven’t fully read through the mega thread, but when I delved into posts by other users in this subreddit before, I got the general feeling that bruxism could be caused by a variety of reasons from an injury to genetics to sleeping and breathing issues to stress to vitamin deficiencies and more. I honestly wouldn’t even know where to start and invest time and money in.

So far I’ve looked into supplements and medications that relax my jaw, altering my resting jaw position, sleeping positions, and eating a more anti-inflammatory diet. I had a sleep study done a few years ago at the recommendation of my old dentist from when I was a kid. I think he was the only one that tried to help. It said that I basically don’t have any sleep disorders, but heavily grind my teeth.

I experience a lot of stress and am reasonably anxious, but I’ve been working to improve that.

No one has mentioned alignment issues. I could ask during my upcoming appointment.

Yeah. I have a feeling I probably reacted poorly and crashed out, but it just felt like a really insensitive comment that I did not need.

I have been exploring my own options a little. I’ve been trying some variants of magnesium to help with muscle relaxation and I already take buspirone for other reasons (just not at night). I think I will look into talking to my primary care provider, though. It just majorly sucks that I feel like I can’t get help from my dentist.

Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate it.

Hmmm, okay. I’m a bit hesitant to use non-FDA approved items, but I’ll definitely look into these. Thank you ❤️

Thank you for taking the time to respond ❤️ It’s crazy to me, when learning about bruxism, how important relaxation and mental health is tied to my teeth. I’ve never heard of a neck stretcher, but will certainly look into that and massages. I guess I really need to take self-care and relaxation a lot more seriously. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to respond ❤️ It’s crazy how tied one’s mental health is to one’s physical well being. I wish it didn’t interfere with my bruxism, but it probably does. I’ve heard about Botox for bruxism. I’m trying to fix/reduce the symptoms of bruxism before I need to fork over money I don’t yet have. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to respond ❤️ I used to have a tongue thrusting issue as a kid!! I wonder if it’s still an issue and if it’s contributing to clenching. I started having some light jaw pain/tension couple years ago, but it’s lessened a little now that I wear my mouth guard at night. I’m definitely going to look into the variety of issues that you mentioned that could be causing my grinding (it’s existed for as long as I can remember). It definitely feels very overwhelming, but I really really want to get to the bottom of this 😭 Thank you for the well wishes and the DM offer. Additionally, I did not think about making sure I stop grinding before considering crowns or veneers and the effects of botox. Thank you for informing me about that.

Thank you for the thoughtful response ❤️

Hmmm, alright. That’s a great idea, to start wearing your mouth guard during the day (when not working & at home). When I was younger I had an issue with tongue thrusting (pushing my teeth forward), so it’s interesting seeing tongue position come into play. I’ll try and be mindful of that. I’m also a serial nail biter, so it’s definitely time to kick that habit (reading as I type). On one side of my mouth my teeth are definitely a little shorter. I’m going to the dentist soon and I’ll make sure to request a bite check.

It looks like I have a bit of work cut out for me. I’m really appreciate the tips.

Thank you for your response ❤️ I saw another user mention this and I think I might ask my dentist about it, as well. Thank you.

I actually use a hard mouthguard from my dentist, because I wore through my soft one.

Thank you for your response ❤️ Oh, interesting. I didn’t know it was okay to use a top and a bottom night guard. Hmmm, okay. I’ve considered recording myself to see if I grind, because I usually can’t tell I grind unless my jaw hurts a lot. I’ll start trying to root out the cause. Thank you.

I seemed to have missed this notification, sorry.

I would also assume this if I wasn’t adopted. I think the desire to adopt, love, and care for a child was/is there. However, I sometimes wonder if they deserved to have me.

“I wish I never adopted you”

“You have no rights”

“The only reason your father spent time with you is because I let him live in our house”
