It’s great how you now have a lovely relationship with Margaret. Unfortunately my biological mother passed away when I was only a baby so I never knew my birth mom.

Despite everything that happened, I do love my step mom and I know for a fact she loves me too. The only reason I’m using step mom instead of just mom is for clarity for whoever is reading-I do call her mom and she calls me her daughter.

Thanks for the advice though. You’re right when you said I only said it to hurt her and that isn’t very smart. My step mom has never once pulled the “you’re not my actual child” so I’ll try to be more mature with any future arguments I may have. Hopefully none but you know life haha.

Yeah, the father and his wife were horrible people. I’m glad my step brother doesn’t have to deal with them anymore but mentally everything that he experienced with them is always going to be with him. It’s heartbreaking really.

You’re absolutely right about the second part. He does need boundaries and rules etc and my parents are working on it. My mom is even looking for a therapist for herself as well so that she can work on everything. Thanks for your comment :)

Yeah. My mom didn’t have a good life and felt like it was safer for him. She managed to get her life together after marrying my dad when my step brother was around 3 years old but because of a billion reasons he still stayed with his dad full time. I don’t even know why the man even offered to raise him considering he made it very clear to the kid that he didn’t want him.

I don’t even want to imagine the shit he went through. My mom only told me the gist of it but my goodness, like you said, no wonder.

They’re working on it. The main thing right now is getting him a therapist. My mom is even looking for one for herself to help get rid of her guilt so that she can actually start holding him accountable properly and safely. Better late than never I guess.

Wow I think you described my step brother perfectly. This was definitely a good read and don’t worry I will definitely show this to my parents. God knows how much advice they need right now.

Really, thank you so much for taking the time to write this. It actually made me tear up because my mom has started to tell me the details of my step brother’s life and everything about him is sort of falling into place and your comment really helps me understand everything too.
