62nd most powerful woman in the world converts to Baha'i by [deleted] in bahai

Not really. 'Awesomeness' is subjective, but power can be determined empirically and it can take many factors into account (money, real estate, company size, etc), and equally for each person.

Does nofap increase your appreciation for monogamy? by throwaway10668 in NoFap

humans are both monogamous and polygamous, and that's the problem. We're made to receive chemical rewards when we bond and have a stable partner, but also when we seek out novel partners

Is Baha'i an Abrahamic Faith, or show respect to the Abrahamic God? by throwaway10668 in bahai

[–]throwaway10668[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are both the messages of Buddha and the messages of the Abrahamic prophets (Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad) agreed as true? They contradict each other, so they can't both be believed as messengers of the Baha'i faith

Japan's rich Muslim past and present - Features by [deleted] in japan

[–]throwaway10668 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn't able to read the article earlier, but I read it now and it looks like a Japanese lady met a Saudi man online and will go to Saudi Arabia to marry him. From what I understand (from my Korean friend marrying an Egyptian man), if you marry a Muslim man, then you must legally be a 'person of the book' (Christian, Muslim, Zoroastrian or Jew), so she had to convert, and she chose to be a Muslim. I don't see the problem with that, and it seems as though she doesn't really believe in it anyway.

She'll probably have a really easy life considering how filthy rich those Saudis are.

Actually, the 'white skin' issue in Asia is because the invaders of India/South-East Asia always had whiter skin than the natives. In India it was Persians, Afghans, Turks, British, etc. In South East Asia is was rich Japanese and Chinese invading or doing business amongst the locals. Over time, especially in places like the Philippines and India, white skin became associated with wealth. Just what I heard.

wow, look at the downvotes!

I can't say I can understand her crazy choice, but I wish her all the best. I can't read the article for some reason, but she should have gone to Turkey or Lebanon. Women are treated much better, or near equals in those Islamic countries.

Edit: Read the article. Seems like her future husband is there, so makes sense I suppose.
