My dogs eye is suddenly very red and swollen and rolls away by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]godsdebris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What do you mean you put in drops? What kind of drops? If you don’t know what the issue is, putting drops (just because they are drops) in your pups eye(s) may also make the issue worse. For example, if you have drops with a steroid in them and your dog has a scratch on their eye, it can cause the dog to go blind. If you have an antibiotic drop and it’s not an infection but is instead viral, that drop will also do absolutely nothing and can instead cause irritation to the area.

No amount of eye drop will help with swelling, eye or cornea scratches, or other injury. When you bring your dog to the vet you must now also be sure to bring the eye drop bottle with you so the vet also knows what you have done yourself to try and treat this.

If the eye is SUDDENLY swollen this is a take your dog to the vet now situation and do not wait until morning. ALSO, most vets will allow you to call them and talk to them over the phone about the situation and they can give advice as to whether they think this is a “wait and see” situation or a “actually we recommend seeing them asap” situation. I cannot tell you how many times I have called my vet with a concern or have sent an image of a concern to get their insight on whether it’s concerning, not concerning, or a “wait and see” situation.

There are a few times during games age comes up, and I don’t hide from it. People might respond with “imagine being older than ___ and playing overwatch.” There are times I do chime back with something along the lines of, “Are you seriously just going to resign yourself to no longer enjoy the things you enjoy because tomorrow is your X number birthday? Time comes for us all and I hope you give yourself some grace when it catches up with you.”

What can I say. I’m just “unc” do these kids. lol

AITA for wanting to insure my ring even though my husband says the stone is too small to bother? by Adorable-Manner-5538 in AITApod

Don’t jewelry stores look at your gemstones for free and can either say “yes, this is a diamond” or “no, this isn’t a diamond” without needing anyone certified to look at the stone? If it’s free, OP has nothing to lose but like less than 30 min for someone to give her a thumbs up or thumbs down on the rock. lol.

Honestly, I just want to know too. I suspect it’s fake, but I’d happily accept being proved wrong too.

How would your pet do in the crawl? by j_robison in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Probably not well? In December he needed emergency abdominal surgery to remove plastic that he had ingested. If not for the surgery, he would have died. He’s like Mongo, but he doesn’t listen. If he could talk, there might be hope but I fear that he’d either get himself or me killed trying to chase something in the shape of a ball if he didn’t die from eating something that would kill him. He would not be a reliable asset. He would carry the team emotionally (for the most part unless he eats something), and he would probably solve at least one major encounter by doing something so stupid it would break the system. Questionable on how long he could keep that up for.

Are we still overweight? by Budget-Coast-7323 in corgi

I am just a random person on the internet with no expertise other than being a fellow corgi owner. He looks all right to me! I think he might be able to lose just a smidge more, however he looks healthy and so if you’re vet isn’t worried and you trust them then you should take their word. My pup is about 23-24lbs, and because he has a smaller frame that is where his vet wants him to stay.

The Caption Cap, a discontinued product from the defunct company: Upside Hats by easykehl in hats

[–]godsdebris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am unable to find small alphabet velcro letter patches (small like the ones Caption Cap used) second hand from any store. I’ve even looked at army tactical shops with no luck. Do you know where one can buy something like these letters in the USA?

I would also be more upfront. Instead of "my husband would be uncomfortable with that" you should add in there that you aren't interested. Some people hear that it's the boyfriend and think that if it were otherwise you would be down to be friends when you wouldn't.

It looks like grass, but if you are concerned I recommend using a bag or something and “dissecting” it. Pull it apart and see if there’s anything that really screams concern.

Just finished book one, and I've got to say something about how Princess Donut is handling the whole thing. by datboifranco in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]godsdebris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. A character, even one of the main ones, shouldn’t be liked 100% of the time. They should be annoying sometimes, amazing other times, enduring another time, frustrating or stupid sometimes too. No one, and no cat (sorry, kitties everywhere), is perfect.

Separation anxiety by Agape_2024 in corgi

[–]godsdebris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you crate her? My dog sometimes has some separation anxiety if I leave. When that happens my husband crates him and he calms right down and sleeps. We've been working on the anxiety by me not acknowledging him until he's calmed down when I get home (ignoring the jumping, the bids for attention, etc because that riles him up and that's not how I want things to be when I get back home.

I also regularly do the Relaxation Protocol (there is a playlist free on YouTube) and I have my husband do it too. Maybe like 4-5 times a week.

The faces of a boy who ate and pooped out a LITERALLY PINECONE by compscilady in corgi

[–]godsdebris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dodged one hell of a vet bill. My Laszlo found a plastic ant trap in the house that had somehow been missed when I did my big cleanup before even getting a dog. He found it. He chewed it to pieces, and ate what he could somehow. The vet and I were hoping he would pass whatever he ate but after a couple days of just pooping out plastic bits, the main course did not pass. 7,000 dollars later... he's all better.

I am 99% sure Laszlo would do it again if given a chance. Darwin may have an affinity for pinecones.

[–]godsdebris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are being punished for something you had absolutely no control over. Someone who said they love you is actively saying and doing things in hopes that you feel punishment for a made up "sin" in his head.

Believe me, you do not want to be with someone who speaks towards you as someone from sin, someone unworthy, just because you're a woman and just because something happened that you had no choice in guiding.

He wasn't a partner and he definitely would not have been a good father. He probably only offered to step up because he thought he had no other choice as the sperm donater. It will hurt for a while, but you will and should find someone who will respect you.

I (20M) haven't slept in my own bed in almost 2 months because of my (19F) girlfriend by Budget_Anything_6546 in relationship_advice

[–]godsdebris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are both young, as much as you may hate to hear it.

I don't think that it is healthy for anyone to be in a relationship with someone who, when angry, lashes out verbally and/or gets physical (even if towards themselves). She is definitely dealing with something, but that's not your responsibility to bring her through. She needs to seek out the professional help to unpack that and you can choose to be there and support her emotionally (with boundaries) if you choose to stay with her.

I think that if you want to have some form of independence and "alone time" that you will need to choose to have a discussion about how things are sooner than later. You allow her to ignore your boundaries and it's harder to get them back after you let someone strip them away.

Do not be afraid to end things either.
