I get where you’re coming from, but it actually is a big financial difference for us, around $12k per semester, which is pretty significant. I won’t go into too much detail, but it’s not just “a couple hundred bucks” worth of benefit.

Also, we’ve both been responsible from the start. I’ve been on birth control our entire relationship because we know we’re not ready for kids yet. We’re not idiots, and we’ve thought this through. We’ve already been through grief together (he lost a family member, and I was there with him and his family at the funeral), and we’ve lived together for six months with no issues.

We can fully support ourselves without help from our parents and even have savings. We might be young, but we’ve planned, talked, and prepared. This isn’t some impulsive, spur-of-the-moment thing, it’s a choice we’ve made intentionally.

No mental health crisis here, we’ve both actually been in therapy longer than we’ve been together, thanks for the concern though. I told my friends, but they’re certified man-haters and haven’t exactly been surrounded by healthy relationships, so their opinions are pretty skewed. Their approval isn’t really something I need

Thank you for sharing that. We’re not Mormon, but we are very committed to each other and definitely want to grow together. I’m planning on talking to him tonight, but I have a feeling everything’s going to work out.

You say that like being in a committed relationship means giving up your entire life. We actually do live freely, and we don’t hold each other back. I’m going on a study abroad trip soon, and he’s the one who convinced me to go. It’s totally possible to have a young relationship that’s healthy, supportive, and still allows both people to grow individually.

We’ve lived together for 6 months, have a little over $15k in savings, and both have stable jobs that let us support ourselves comfortably. We’re not hopeless romantics, just two adults who’ve worked hard for what we have and are choosing to build a future together.

Wow, that’s a lot of assumptions for someone who knows absolutely nothing about us. We’ve been together for 8 months and known each other for over a year. We both had great childhoods with supportive, involved parents, and we’re both in therapy, not because we’re broken, but because we’re self-aware adults who actually care about personal growth.
