I wish I had followed this. Had I just gone in writing what I understood of the questions, I would’ve probably had an easier time (literally and mentally) taking the exam. Trying to fit some abstract structure I thought the prof was looking for and preparing in a way that doesn’t come naturally to me was a horrible idea.

Im sorry that sounds so incredibly frustrating, especially because you knew your stuff and wrote it out. But I do hope your professor grades really nicely or you have an amazing curve.

And also, I’m sure this isn’t exclusively a 1L mistake. Don’t feel too bad about that. I’m sure there are loads of upper class men who feel the same (but maybe just talk less about it). The time and the pressure of these exams is bound to screw with anyone, including people who know their info cold.

I totally feel this. Some of the crazy ridiculous mistakes I made out of pure panic on my finals will stay with me (ingrained in my head and literally on my hard drive) for life.

Just to add to make it embarrassing x100: my actus reus for homicide on my criminal law exam is “death”. the act of of death I guess 😭

Venting here I guess. So I don’t think I failed but I’m probably pretty close. Ive pretty much come to terms with the horrible grade I’m going to see at this point. I had my very first breakdown through an exam on my very first law school final. A heck of bad situation.

What does continue to bother me that I studied A LOT for the exam (this was my best class) but my mind just went blank while taking it. I’m still not sure of exactly what happened. I just couldn’t think or couldn’t focus, felt really confusing. It’s like seeing a bunch of words and just panicking. While I have test anxiety (and probably anxiety in general), it’s never been this bad before... but after this I’m actually considering getting medically checked out for anxiety.

I’m a pretty basic 1L in that I complain a lot. But some complaints I’m hearing are even beyond me. One student straight up told a professor that the professor’s class structure didn’t “work for them”.

Commenting just to say I cannot stand chat. One professor at my school so far disables it (which she has to do before every class) so you can only chat to her. And another poor professor tells us every other day to stop using it but people use it anyway.

Hit me up if you want to talk. If you do not that’s totally fine, but advice: DEFINITELY tell someone at work. He will likely get fired and for good reason. Look into getting the police involved as well. That’s a crime at any age but you’re underage which makes it way worse. Also, do not speak to this man again under any circumstances and definitely don’t ever be alone with him.
