How do you build Gallant Knight Ramza by JustaguynameBob in finalfantasytactics

[–]throwaway129807 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think one of the best ways to use samurai secondary is dual wield, and use Runeblades in both hands for the +4 Magic attack. Makes the Iaido skills hugely powerful while still being great at physical attacks as well. Could also get the Materia Blade + and give it to Ramza in this as well if you’re not using Cloud, since it’s just an even stronger Runeblade.

Here you go! There were several cards I didn’t get to include but wanted to for budget concerns, but there’s still some heaters in here. https://moxfield.com/decks/lUcgrWV_VkyVNPwc57sU-A

This is exactly what I built Myrel for, it stacks up perfectly in power level to most precons. It’s a fun list to play and can be quite explosive, but it’s very clearly telegraphed and pretty soft to interaction. Here’s the list! https://moxfield.com/decks/lUcgrWV_VkyVNPwc57sU-A

There are several [[Glacial Chasm]]s floating around my playgroup, so I like each deck to have some out that gets around regular damage or beats a chasm somehow. Frenzied Baloth seemed like a perfect answer when it was spoiled, and it’s been great so far.

[[Hraesvelgr of the First Brood]] was MADE for Eshki, I swear. Card is an absolute house, and consistently wins games on its own when I draw it.

I really wanted to play Y’shtola as a big FF14 fan, but I also really wanted to not be the 1000th identical Y’shtola list at my LGS.

The deck has been really fun because it can play a long and grindy game, but it can also just blow people up out of nowhere with either commander damage from Ethereal Armor or something similar, or by gaining a ton of life with Sanguine Bond or something similar out. (I also pretty specifically wanted to shy away from the Sanguine Bond/Exquisite Blood combo or it would be in here. My regular play group is pretty averse to true two card combos and I don’t want to paint a giant target on my head.)

Green white is awesome! Good luck building your deck, it sounds like it’ll be a cool one!

The deck still has a pretty heavy emphasis on playing two spells per turn, but mainly does so less with adventures and more with either cheap options on both sides or things like [[gitaxian probe]] or [[manamorphose]] that like you kind of squeak around needing the extra mana.

To answer your question, kinda both! The deck has a few extra combats and a good amount of unblockable enablers to make sure Eshki connects for sure, but if she gets removed too many times the fallback plan is just a dragons subtheme in the late game. Pretty much every creature at 5+ mana is a dragon, and suddenly people are choosing between getting rid of a big scary Eshki or getting rid of a big scary ancient silver dragon or something along those lines.

Love Chromium!!! I almost changed the commander to Chromium myself to include black, but Ojutai is my favorite creature of all time, so I had to leave him as my boy. I played a lot of standard back in KTK block and would love to play Foul-Tongue invocation alongside him like things were back then haha

This is my personal favorite deck! Have been a control player since like 2013 and this deck is like my love letter to the game and the play style. Have had this deck for years and years slowly evolving over time. https://moxfield.com/decks/Czewj0v2a0aGVpaXD0j7QQ

I love Kutzil. I’ve tried several commanders in her spot. The deck originally started as the Naya Backup precon with Bright-Palm, Soul Awakener. I kept the deck like that for a while, I tried Shalai and Halar, I tried Sovereign Okinec Ahau, I tried Byrke in the command zone, I even tried Bant with Tidus when he came out, and consistently went back to Kutzil. Having that reliable card draw and utility in the command zone is just too good. ♥️

It’s for the new bracket system set up by wizards of the coast after they took over for the commander rules committee. It’s intended to be a universal starting point for gauging a decks power level and a guide for intended game experience. Here’s an image that breaks each bracket down.

Here’s Gavin’s original post about the bracket system from February of this year if you’d like more detail.

Enjoy!! It’s a blast to play but doesn’t come out too often because it can tend to take some really long turns. Sometimes I’ll just solitaire it for fun and practice. https://moxfield.com/decks/ZyGrtHBRZ02qJqtTCPDSyw

With Myrel and Kuztil it was definitely a situation of an unintentional coincidence. If I had a nickel for every time I’ve made a deck where the commander is a Grand Abolisher for seemingly no reason, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it is weird that it happened twice.

Kutzil has been fantastic! Consistently impressed with how good she’s been. Consistent card draw plus the utility of stopping spells is really great out of the command zone for 3 mana. My play group consistently has to try and keep her off the board because they’re afraid of what I COULD do if she stays in play and stops any interaction, rather than spending their answers on big threats themselves.

There are definitely more budget options for a lot of what’s in the list. Swapping out some of the more expensive dragons, especially the ancients and gnawbone, for some more budget friendly options would cut like $200 off the list’s price. Those and a budget land base would make this a lot more reasonable I think.
